And now I've had bad luck with both. Who do I turn to? Hitachi? Pfffffffffffft. Naw, I'm really just glad I have two separate platter drives. At least I can back up my shit. And hey, I still have my old Seagate 320GB in an external enclosure somewhere!
Exactly. These things are so fucking precise and intolerant to imperfection, I'm surprised they don't break down more often than they do. That's why you always make backups. In fact, I'm probably going to buy an external drive rather than just making redundant copies of pictures and shit on my 1 TB WD Black.
Everything I have important exists on both of my drives and Dropbox. So I'm covered. Just sucks to lose half my available storage, but I guess I get to purge Steam games I never play.
Also, check the labels on that graph. Definitely misleading - you do NOT start a graph at 80%.
I fixed it for the picky people out there. (ok fine)

Remember, you need defense in depth. Combine your AV with your own common sense, adblock (and other plugin-specific blockers), even Google's hacked site blocking built into Firefox and Chrome. Four independent layers with 90% success rates turns into a 99.99% overall success rate.
In good news for the night, someone is sleeping on my lap. [t]http://puu.sh/5Av7b/82a5b464c5.jpg[/t]
What kind of total writes are you guys on your SSD's? my system drive has 11TB total writes and my game SSD is like 6TB. I'd say that's pretty good.
How can I check this? According to smart data my boot drive has almost 4 years of power on time (Which is about how old the drive is).
How can I check this? According to smart data my boot drive has almost 4 years of power on time (Which is about how old the drive is).
I use crystaldiskinfo
Just ordered a Blackberry Z10.
One of the nicest phones I've ever used. Incredibly solid, and technically has the biggest app library since it has full compatibility with Android apps, plus it's own library.
I can't get the Nvidia experience thing to push over 2560. So looks like it's not some sort of special downsampling it's just a resolution control like in anything else.
Just because you have bad luck with them doesn't automatically mean their shit. I've had bad luck with Seagate as well, but I don't automatically qualify them as a shit tier manufacturer.
Working at a computer shop for two years, I can tell which brands are duds. We had so many people coming in with dead WD's that we ended up putting a sign up advising them to not purchase or use WD products. Mind you, seagate had a couple of shitty external drives too. The FreeAgents were pretty much cooking the drives.
Oi Western Digital Release your goddamn 5TB Reds already. Its Q4 ffs
wait since when do LCDs get ghosting
My iPad gets ghosting at times, there's ghosting of chrome's tab bar right now actually, heh
I'm in the process of upgrading to win8 right now. Making my USB flashdrive booter. I was going to see if it would work as a mounted ISO but prob not so I'm going to use the flash drive. [editline]3rd December 2013[/editline] Just got done. I really like how smooth it is. Feels really nice to use, though confusing. Also I don't want to use any real microsoft services since I'd have to make yet another MS account can I tie it to some Gmail stuff?
I have an IBM 750GB HDD that was used in a Server somewhere. It got recycled, then it was wiped and I put it in my desktop. Speccy says it has a power on time of 5 years, with 494 power cycles. Still running like a champ for me.
Apparently MS believes that no one will ever need more than 5 columns in Control Panel: [t]http://i.imgur.com/VgEy7TJ.png[/t]
Look, hard drives are going to fail, whether they're Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, or Chinese Brand #4636. They're mechanical. Everything mechanical fails at some point or another. No matter how many oil changes and regular maintenance you do to an engine, at some point it's going to fail. No matter how often you keep your hard drive defragged and no matter how little you write to it, it is going to fail. Brand loyalty in anything - cars, tablets, phones, computer parts, and software - is just fucking dumb. Find what works for you, and when it comes time to replace it do so. Don't act like you're some god because you would never stoop so low as to use brand Y over brand X. They're just fucking products. Use what you like and let other people do the same.
does the valve complete pack usually go on a 75% sale?
P sure it goes for at least 75% off every sale.
Downloading 8.1 now. How long does it normally take to install?
~15 minutes over the network
I've had trouble with WD and seagate drives before. one WD caviar actually caught fire. It doesn't stop me from using them.
Pepper;43054079']I've had trouble with WD and seagate drives before. one WD caviar actually caught fire. It doesn't stop me from using them.
What even happened there?
I hate seeing newegg reviews where the person is like "I bought three dozen of these drives and one of them died after ten years of constant use 1/5 stars"
What even happened there?
I don't even know. It was just SNAP, turn off the PC, open it, fire.
What even happened there?
He had some very hot stuff on there.

Please include the Invoice ID or Transaction number that is listed in the transaction details.
