This hasn't happened to me on any modern computer (i.e. my desktop and my two laptops.)
All my computers are old enough that Windows 8 already had the Ethernet drivers installed.
An oveclocked i5 2500k @ 4.4 ghz draws about 192 watts. My titan @ 1137 uses about over 400 watts.
So, if a system uses just over 400 at stock speeds. Should 600 be fine for all my purposes, even at full load?
This hasn't happened to me on any modern computer (i.e. my desktop and my two laptops.)
Happened to me with Windows 7, 8 was pretty cool tho.
The fans specifically? Not the computer itself?
Yep, just the fans inside.

Sometimes USB plugs need to support some moderately heavy weight. If it's the size of a micro USB plug i'm worried about the ability for things to stay plugged in.
I never really trusted USB ports to hold much weight anyway. Its just a thin bit of plastic.
Don't forget the metal bits that surround everything.
Don't forget the metal bits that surround everything.
It's the connectors anchors that are soldered to the PCB that are the weakest points, sometimes it actually takes part of the PCB with it.
Pepper;43069912']It's the connectors anchors that are soldered to the PCB that are the weakest points, sometimes it actually takes part of the PCB with it.
Yeah but for all of that to move with a USB plugged in, the entire enclosure supports most of the weight, not the connector, so you're applying an unreasonable amount of force to the port in the first place.

I'm talking about the little bit of plastic in the center. I've broken those off remarkably easily. These are two of the ports on my old laptop. Just snapped right off. Only on that side though for some reason, other two are fine.
I've never broken a USB port in my life
Pepper;43070196']I've never broken a USB port once. Do you remove flash drives with a claw hammer or something?
Just pulled a flash drive out and heard a snap. Maybe it was a design flaw since those two, and only those two are broken. Still left a bad taste in my mouth, and don't trust them with any remarkable amount of weight. Apparently I'm not the first though. On an old used case of mine, they somehow did that AND twisted the contacts together so the motherboard won't boot if that header is plugged in. I don't even.
Never broken a USB port, broken a flash drive though. The case came off but the internals stayed plugged in :v:
Took me all night to get windows 8.1 installed properly. Started at like... idk 10pm, just finished about 5minutes ago at 3:50pm.
If you break the plastic off of your USB ports then you aren't pulling them out straight. The only time I ever broke a port like that was when I fell on my flash drive on the front panel USB. (My chair was shitty and unstable, don't judge.)
Amber weather alert for tomorrow. It better not knock out the power or I'll be bored shitless. 70-80MPH winds though, could fly a kite? :v:
Ok. So I did a little bit of experimenting. MP4's will play fine, I click the link this [t]http://i.imgur.com/cUanuzw.png[/t] player comes up and it plays it no problem. MKV's come up with this player [t]http://i.imgur.com/RdOiVxZ.png[/t] which doesn't play it... unless I'm in chrome. Then it will play it just fine. In regards to AVI's it just downloads them. Ideas folks? [editline]4th December 2013[/editline] So now it's decided it'll only play some MP4's. FFS. [editline]4th December 2013[/editline] Every file works if I open a network stream in the program itself.
Damn. dads new laptop has a broken wifi antenna or something. Pinging google - 55ms and suddenly jumps to 500ms and then drops connection. What the fuck? Why?

After bending the USB plug and receptacle carefully back, it still works.

Hey, benjgvps, could I have op (or higher) in IRC whenever convenient? If someone abuses HollyBot's Danger Zone feature I want to be able to give them many floggins.

What I want to do is get holly op so we can get a fucking votekick/voteban system.

So today I unpacked 3 brand new 2013 iMacs, took the plastic off and everything. It felt great. These ones were better than the previous set which only had i5 2.5GHz and 4GB of RAM. The new one's have i5 2.7GHz and 8GB of RAM and it's the new, thin version and it has Maverick on it and not 10.6.
