Anyone heard of Tresorit? Ultra-secure form of Dropbox, with public file sharing support etc.
You start with 5 free gigs, get 500 megs for adding a mobile app.
However, there is NO password recovery. So no hacker can reset your password when they get access to your email.
If anyone's interested, here's my link: https://register.tresorit.com/download?mode=1&ref=L7XS7s just like dropbox, I get extra space when y'all sign up with it.

Nor can you reset it when someone gets access to your account there.
It's kinda pointless tbh.

People focus too much on "hackers" when oftentimes the easiest way to gain access to something is social engineering.
Which is in a sense people hacking but it really isn't anything involving computer magic.
anyone here who know how to get around really strict firewalls?
I've been switching VPNs for the past 3 weeks because one after one, they stop working (I suspect my stepfather is attempting to block it, no idea how he does it). I started with Cyberghost which didn't work at all, moved on to StrongVPN which worked for a while before not working again, tried hidemyass which I couldn't connect to at all, neither with PPTP, L2TP or OpenVPN. I switched recently to VyprVPN which was fantastic. excellent speeds, unlimited server switches, everything was just awesome with it. now that isn't working either.
it must be my stepfather who keeps blocking them somehow because they can't just stop working out of the blue. I decided to move onto Mullvad yesterday and guess what, it worked for like 10-20 minutes before I never could connect again. I'm honestly at loss.
I feel incredibly naked without a VPN to encrypt my traffic considering he is monitoring my connection and blocking way too many things. this is an advanced firewall we're talking about, atleast judging from the price. it's a paloalto firewall which cost him around 3260$, twice the price of my own desktop.
anyone?
anyone?
fucking hell that's dedication to stop you watching porn
[editline]6th December 2013[/editline]
could you not physically route your traffic around the firewall?
anyone?
Get a remote shell, SSH tunnel. Also, Tor might work but that's not necessarily secure.
zenmate inside chrome

could you explain a little more indepth about this remote shell/ssh tunnel thing? want something which works fast and routes all network traffic I have through it, much like a VPN

I'm not sure, possibly, but he'd quickly spot it and fix it. I need a permanent solution which is hard to block for him
I am pissed off right now.
I come home after a long school day, and guess what greets me in my room? No power strips for my computer. My mom set up the christmas tree now already, and because we have so little power strips she took MINE. Now I AM the one responsible for buying new ones for my copmuter. Right now I'm using my brother's computer because I can't find any of them right now.
Any ideas for what I can buy? Those power strips in series really aren't the way to go because they are so damn dangerous.

Basically, when you have a SSH server that supports port forwarding you can dynamically forward a port (eg. `ssh user@server -D 1080`) after which you'd have a SOCKS proxy at localhost:port. (In this case, localhost:1080)
Then you could have any program that supports SOCKS proxies connect to the internet over your new, fancy encrypted channel.
[editline]6th December 2013[/editline]
Of course it's trivial to block, though; all your stepfather needs to do is to find out the hostname/IP address of the shell host.

yeah he's gonna notice the encrypted traffic and he'll most likely block it so I don't know if it's worth to try
Eww i bought a lumia 925 :v:

Perhaps I will do this in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep.
Right now I'm improvising by connecting everything to a unused outlet on a power strip, resulting in a cable running between my legs on the floor.

Switch the locations of "newserver" and "benjeffery.ca" (also move 6667 to the port box, or delete it)

It's just benjeffery.ca for the server connection, don't put in http or anything.
yeah I was doing it all freaking wrong. thanks for the help
Gah, fuck it.
Would an 8350 (well, OC'd 8320 but still) and an R9 280x suit me just fine? I'd be just doing gaming, basic video editing and maybe an occasional livestream. I know a 4670k would be better, but anything'd be better than what I'm running on right now :v:
