well, maybe not
I find it pathetic that they can't even make a true dual-core GPU. they keep putting two physical chips on one board instead of shrinking the die and putting both dies into one chip housing.
If you put both onto one die you'd get yields so shitty that it wouldn't be worth it to make the card, and you'd have to dissipate a heat per area akin to a nuclear reactor.
;18139955']You're retarded.
What an incredibly well thought out and intelligent rebuttal, you amaze me with you insight.
I'm planning on water cooling for a few reasons, it is quieter then air, but mostly I have seen some really stable overclocks on water for longer times. The high static pressure fans you need for the higher-up air, TRUE and Noctua, are pretty loud. It is also the best way to keep a crossfire/sli system cool. Air cooling them sucks, one is always sucking hot air from the other.
I like doing stuff like this, its just a fun thing to do as a hobby. Its fun to do projects that are out there. Like turning an old refrigerator into a case. Its more a question of why not then why, the main block will always be money though :sigh:.

You said the 800D was 4 inches deeper and I said it wasn't, then you start talking about the height. Reread your post.
you shitting me? BARLEY anybodys i7 get to 4.5 GHz for 24/7. You have to have a awesome chip, which sadly are hard to find with the newer batches. best way to get a chip like that is to buy it from a person/pick out your own batch.
Why watercool your q9550? useless. My megahalem didn't let my Q9550 go over 50c @ 4.25 GHz (1.33 vcore), and that's on air. I couldn't even push higher, and 3.8-4.3 is the usual any person gets with that chip. No need for watercoolng at those frequencies/voltages (voltages usually stay under 1.36 with those OCs)
A mugen 2 would be just as good as the megahalem, and its also cheaper. Why not get that instead of wasting cash on a watercooling setup?
ogod ogod
The new i7s are capable of that (the 860 and 870). People have managed to get them up to 4.1 on air cooling (albeit running at 79 degrees). It isn't impossible, but I wouldn't say it is the best thing for your chip either.

I hear sometimes about people OCing the i7 975 to 4.0 Ghz.
But that's $999 too much for me.

There are tons of "stabler" air cooled setups than watercooling setups. I don't get why you instantly think "watercooling = higher overclocks/stabler overclocks." Sometimes when your CPU gets hot you will crash, but I've only seen this for AMD cpus (correct me if I'm wrong). But intel? No. Never seen that make a difference. My i7 goes to 86c during LinX (stress testing) with all my fans on the lowest possible speeds, and its just as stable as it is @ 78c with it on full speed.
sounds like you want to cool your graphics cards too? You didn't say that in your post above.
I can barley hear my megahalems fans. you don't have to get a "super" fan for your cooler if you want it to be quiet. I've heard some loud watercooling setups actually.
OF COURSE IT IS THE BEST WAY TO COOL A SLI/CROSSFIRE SYSTEM! thanks captain obvious!
I'll have you know my GTX 275s are air cooled (stock coolers) and they never touch 70c @ 100 percent fan speed. @ auto fan speed (which is quiet up to 90c), they'll go to 85c, but that's not a problem for graphics cards.
Now it sounds like you want to do it for "fun", yet you mentioned above you have a "reason" to have watercooling?
jesus fuck make up your mind

That's 4.1 Read what I sad. Barley ANYBODY gets to 4.5 for 24/7 use. Even on water. (which most of them are actually). I've got my 920 to 4.5, but its too hot to run all 4 cores (i disabled 2). I had to look all around long island microcenter for the batch I was looking for.
that "400" MHz is very hard to get to, believe it or not. As for the i7 8XXs, I could only get mine to 4.2. Most people can't get over 4.2 (even if it isn't 24/7 use) with those chips, however, the i5s are reaching 4.4+ for 24/7 use.
Oh and 79c isn't hot for the i7s, they should be good up to 85c

I listed the complete dimensions of both cases and I am suddenly retarded?
I'm sorry it was only 3.8" difference not 4". My bad.

Wow you're really stupid. You were talking about depth, I said it was 0.6" less deep (Antec 1200) and then you start talking about how the 800D is taller.

By doing that you could even fit it in a laptop.

It would be hilarious if you bought the smallest micro-ATX motherboard you can find just for that purpose. Maybe find a really small PSU and HDD as well.

don't expect this card to be ~650 :saddowns:.
That's good. I'm surprised they do that sooner.
