The iPad has games.
[editline]09:12PM[/editline]
lots of them
They made it even more gimmicky by using the iPhone OS instead of regular OSX. I mean how is this thing gonna be any use to people if they can't run normal applications on it.
Apple might have some issues with the name IPAD. http://www.ipadowners.org/
This IPAD has been around sine the days of BBS's so it's not just trying to rip off Apple.

Bask in the glory of it, for it may be your last chance
At that size they should be using a full OS instead of a mobile one.
Apple is pulling useless products out of their ass.
The only thing useful I've seen them make was the iPhone which I still think is shit but it's a stepping stone for much better predecessors.
Aren't Pads for girls?
iPad - Name and device both a big fucking joke.
At the moment, no.
I'd much rather get an Android phone.
It's a pointless gimmick made by apple again and all the cool kids will have this urge to buy it.
Bravo apple, you still are the god at rooting out the idiots within the population.
Would like to use it. Would not want to buy it.

Agree
Voted yes because I would LIKE to own one, although I probably won't.
They named it so they could make the parents of spoiled kids pay more for it, who live near canada.

I think of this every time

It does seem quite ridiculous, but I have a feeling that this thing has the potential to be pretty useful. All someone needs to do is create a third party attachment that houses the iPad and has a keyboard build into it, allowing the iPad to be used as a laptop.
I know most tech-wise young people see this as almost a joke, but I would not be surprised if business people think this is an awesome product.

And who said that limiting multitasking was revolutionary? It was a decision made by Apple to increase battery life and stability, regardless of if you agree with it or not, no one was saying it's a 'revolutionary' idea

The way it's being portrayed.
Seems like I am going to go against the flow here and say I will be buying one and I have a use for it.
You could argue it's a big iPod Touch and I wouldn't disagree. I don't think that is a bad thing, infact I think (for video or web browsing) a regular iPod Touch is an absurd device. However I am thinking about this like an advanced Kindle. We know people want a light, easy to use device they can read books on. It makes sense this would expand to watching video and browsing the web.
iPhones can browse the web. However in an ideal world, when your in bed or lazing on the couch, do you really want to peer into that tiny screen to browse around? I don't. Nor do I want to drag out my laptop. A light and simple device I can laze on the couch and easily and enjoyable browse the web on? I like that idea.
The iPad won't do anything outstanding. I think it's silly to compare it to an iPhone or a MacBook. It's neither and it's both at the same time. It's something that will allow you to do simple tasks on a whim and when I'm wandering around on a sunday or lying in bed.. that's what I want.
I think anyone who goes above the 16Gb 3G model is absurd. When you are spending upwards of $700 on this device, it's impossible to justify how general and nondescript it is. I completely agree with that.
If you want a computer and have $800 to spend, this isn't it.
I think the bogstandard $499 16Gb non-3G version is the logical choice if you want one of these devices. It's only $10 more than a Kindle DX and it brings so much more to the table.
Personally, I was all ready to drop that $489 on a Kindle DX. I think I'll be going for the 16Gb 3G version when it comes to the UK. Why? I think I'll kick myself one day when I can't find a wifi network and I would like to go for 1 month of 3G and can't, because I don't have that version.
The real iPad:

this is probably the only Apple product I don't want... maybe after a few refreshes, but not now. I have my iPhone 3G S, it does what I need and the iPad is virtually the same things and it's way bigger.
So when can I crack it and put windows on it?
Reactions to the name of Apple's shiny new device ranged from disapproval to mockery, including the installation of 'iTampon' as a trending topic on Twitter.
iTampon should be more then enough to tell you my feelings.
"Nothing you can say about the iPad matches the experience of using it. So much more than a large iPhone or small laptop. Stunning feel." Quote from Stephen Fry via twitter
Personally i'm going to wait for a view in-depth reviews are about before I make up my mind I'd like to get a look at just about how much it can do first.
For now, going off first impressions i'd have to say I wouldn't get one... ask me again in a few weeks though.
The christ.
All it does it run apps that you can run on an iPod or iPhone and browse the web. And seeing as I currently have an iPhone, I have no need for one. If Apple had put a modified version of OS X, I would have considered.
Unless there is some great hacks/mods (new OS, ect.), I have no need for this.
Also, a $250 netbook can easily out preform this in specs (faster processor, and stuff), and functionality.
I agree with the iPhone doing the same thing (except the book stuff) and having a better OS, I was hoping for a blend of Snow Leopard and the iPhone OS.
but personally I rather have the iPad over a netbook.
If I could afford one, I would probably get one. It is pretty interesting.
