I don't know much about computer specs and all that crap, so I'm asking you guys for help.
All I want, is a reasonably priced desktop computer that runs Windows 7, has a nice amount of memory and RAM, and a good graphics card. I am going to purchase a new PC because I can't stand this laptop anymore, and need a computer that specializes in gaming because I make videos with Garry's Mod, and I am currently working on a script for one at this moment.
I'm looking for something around £350 - £400 at the most that would be able to run new games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution or Battlefield 3.
This might sound dumb, and maybe it won't make a difference, but I'd like the machine to be able to handle editing softwares like Sony Vegas without messing up completely.
Please suggest a PC for me, or suggest some specs if I decide to build it myself.
This will run you about $600. Pretty solid build. I built one very similar and I can max out Crysis 1/2, BF3 beta, pretty much any game you throw at it. You can make a few tweaks, but I'd stick with the graphics card though, I have one and it just laughs at any game I play on it.

Consider swapping that 460 to a 560 ti. The extra $50-60 is worth it.

I understand what you mean, but I want a new machine purely for flawless garry's mod gameplay, and maybe GTA IV.
I have a 560 Ti. It smacks those games into the ground.

460 Ti's are out of production though, but yes it's strong enough.

And Bf3 is going to laugh at you. The recommended card for Bf3 is a GTX 560
And GTA IV is more CPU dependent. Another reason to NOT get an i3. A i5 would be your best option if going the intel route.

No, seriously I average 30 fps. There are times where it would drop to 20 or so when a lot is happening on screen, but if you are talking running it at 60 fps, then yeah no fucking way. I'm the kind of gamer that doesn't mind 30 fps and the occasional slowdown for that extra bit of eye candy, especially with single player games.
Edit: By the way, this is not a "who can run what" war, it's a thread to help this dude build a PC. So let's get back on topic. :Combine Elite:, while the 460 is a very nice card it is a tad outdated. If you have the extra cash I would agree with dije by going with a 560. The extra money would extend the "life" of your current build and would future proof it for upcoming games. Also go with an i5 if you can too. The only reason I went with an i3 is because I couldn't afford an i5. Comes down to budget really.

AND if you get a AM3+ Motherboard, you can buy a new CPU and you won't need a new motherboard!

I don't want anything too fancy, because it just moves the price up little by little, and I'm on quite a tight budget. As long as it can run Garry's Mod flawlessly I'll be good, but aside from that it would be nice to be able to run games like Portal 2 or GTA IV when I'm taking a break.
