Isn't AOC that company that released hyped up their $199 IPS monitor then it turned out it was 6bit color? Man what a horrible company.
You want one with a lot of reassuring reviews? Oh look, the one I posted has a ton of em, 2nd most on Newegg infact, and one of the top ones on Amazon.
Get it (off Amazon).
User reviews don't mean squat. And Newegg is FINE.
Submitting my opinion.

Well I'm still stuck between those two monitors because I don't know how much "color banding" will affect me. You guys say all Acer monitors have this issue. How can you know for sure?

Ha.

But would you pay an extra $70 for that quality?

you either buy a piece of shit and get stuck with a piece of shit for $70 less or pay $70 more and get something that's quality and you won't have to replace for a while

I've used over 30 different Acer monitors from every price point and they are all terrible monitors
extremely flimsy, cheap design with horrible everything, I have nothing good to say about them whatsoever
as the saying goes, you get what you pay for

LOL the 2nd one you have, I linked for $40 less above. There yo go. Have fun with your new Samsung. Worth it.

Well then I'm going to have to trust you on this one. Might buy it tomorrow.
I would get more money than 200 for a monitor. It's one of the most important parts of your PC.
I hate how some people just skimp out on a monitor.

Some people don't want IPS monitors because of the shitty contrast ratio.

Money is not an issue. I will be using this as my second monitor so it's not as important.
none of these are >200
none of these are >200
We've already discussed that the title is wrong.
I came here to reiterate the fact that Acer's monitors aren't worth it. I just replaced my Acer with a Samsung and the difference is blinding. Never going back.
I bought an ASUS 27in 1080p LED monitor and it's now alongside my 24in Acer. The Acer monitor looks very washed out compared to the ASUS. Perhaps it's the LED or maybe it's because the ASUS is still fairly new and the Acer is about a year old, but there is a major difference when I drag a window from one monitor to the other.
Don't worry, I already bought the Samsung. Thank you all for your suggestions and opinions.
Don't worry, I already bought the Samsung. Thank you all for your suggestions and opinions.
Did you buy from Tiger? Or?
Did you buy from Tiger? Or?
Why does it matter? Newegg, Amazon, Tigerdirect. They all have the same prices.
Why does it matter? Newegg, Amazon, Tigerdirect. They all have the same prices.
Tiger was $40 cheaper than Newegg and Amazon at the time I posted my link.
Why does it matter? Newegg, Amazon, Tigerdirect. They all have the same prices.
no they don't
amazon is usually better for audio equipment and other less common high end products as they have a large selection
newegg is the best for computer parts usually because they have $10 or lower prices than other etailers
tigerdirect is only good if they have sales better than newegg's
They're all good/bad in different situations unless they all have the same price.
They're all good/bad in different situations unless they all have the same price.
And in this situation they didn't.
They did when I bought it.
They did when I bought it.
When I posted it, it was $40 off.
[editline]15th December 2011[/editline]
Now it's $30 off.

Samsung Syncmaster 2253bw, fucking love it.

old though, might not sell anymore
I know someone who builds race sim computers, and he tells me that all his customers and most people in the sim racing community use the Asus V-whatever series monitors. I've been looking over their specs for a few days now, and the VS247H-P is probably the best monitor I've found for less than $200.

The ASUS VS229H-P is the best monitor offered in the $200 range. It's a 1080p S-IPS panel with a 5ms response time, but it's 21.5 inches which does mean it has a better pixel density but it may be considered too small by some people.
