No it doesn't. It's a hardware issue with the sensor placement. Did you just skip over the majority of my post?
So where should the sensor be placed?
I don't ever watch movies on my N4, but I've been using Google Play for music, and I have to say it works very well. However I do have unlimited data.
Yeah, I'd be completely fine with the storage on the Nexus 4 if I had unlimited data. Just as soon as I can move to T-Mobile.

No, I didn't. There's nothing wrong with the sensor placement, you're just being nitpicky. It's a problem with how auto works. Go and try flux before you really conclude that it's a problem with the sensor.
So where should the sensor be placed?
In a perfect world you'd have multiple sensors. You need to be able to measure the ambient lighting, which would include light from the sides and from behind. With it being on the bezel it's measuring the light reflected off of your face.
Did you post this somewhere else because I'm getting deja vu.
I have zero problems with the sensor. Unless your face is in your phone all the time, there's really nothing to complain about.

Actually there is. I've used f.lux, and it still doesn't account for the completely blatant and obvious issue with measuring ambient light by pointing a sensor at a human face.
Ah fuck, why was I saying f.lux? I meant lux.

I'm just rating them what befits them. You basically just said I was wrong, with no contradicting evidence other than "I have zero problems" which isn't quantitative in the slightest, and doesn't account for what is optimal vs what is tolerable.
Any app still suffers from the same issue with the sensor. It would however fix the issue of there being minimal steps in change and what scenarios they occur under, to an extent anyway. It won't change the inaccuracy. No phone in existence does it right on the hardware side. The issue with the sensor applies more to a bright environment, as you'll be more naturally inclined to look straight on with your device to minimize glare. But in any environment it's not an accurate alteration of the screen brightness to reflect where the phone is being used. It can make it difficult to see, especially with OLED phones that are dimmer than LCDs and not partially transflective. If brightness isn't ramped up enough in bright environments which can often be the case, it's difficult to view the display. Likewise, when the display reflects light off of your face when you view it in a dim room, it can be uncomfortably bright.

I said "Use lux (accidentally said flux). It's worth the purchase," but that's apparently saying you're wrong.
Alright, dude. You're getting way too worked up over this.

The ambient light sensor is in the wrong place but it is possible to tweak values to make it work acceptably.

Well that's why I mentioned there's the difference between optimal and tolerable. Every phone I have always seems way too dim in sunlight, it's ridiculous. They're mostly OLED devices which contributes, but when I'm outside in the winter and there's sun coming down and reflecting off of snow so everything is bright, it's impossible to see stuff on an S2 or even on my iPad which is a bit clearer but not a ton. If it was measuring the ambient light better it'd work a lot better. It's not even "acceptable" in a lot of circumstances with my devices.

On my Desire HD, the max panel brightness/contrast is just too low to produce decent sunlight visibility, but I notice that if it is under direct sunlight the brightness goes to max no matter what.

Same with my S2, and I'd imagine your DHD is brighter than my S2 at max. In a dim room it stays too bright though. I have a screen filter app because it just keeps it bright to the point that it causes eyestrain. I don't know if it's even the lowest setting on the slider but it's inappropriate regardless.

Hm, that's odd. I know that OEM autobrightness values are a pile of shit, but the custom one I use works great.
what happen? I most likely didn't have my android phone at that time.
I got it around Feburary-April of that year, and had slow updates, like 2 months, then no more until the Ubermusic beta (which was a month or two after the LP's last update). I really liked it, and fede easily took advice during its beta. But I wanted to test if fede had changed: if it got 2 updates after making it to the play store/market, I'd buy ubermusic.
It only got one.
holy shit kaabii i'm sorry no phones are up to your exacting hardware requirements

The iPhone 5 and the HTC 8X pretty much are. Just a few issues like what I described about the light sensor, which apply to every phone.
Did you post this somewhere else because I'm getting deja vu.
Yeah in the last Android thread shortly before it was closed. I also posted on the XDA Devs forum.
I'm pimping my poll for the last time:

Development will probably start tonight, but no promises. Lots of calculus to do.

If the iPhone 5/8X fall under that category, the One/M7 should too, IMO. HTC definitely seems to be executing right on the hardware and software sides.

The One definitely does, except those camera pics I saw were disappointing. But they weren't exactly the most scientific in terms of how it was tested so I will indeed wait and see for myself. Only concern is how it'll run since it's an Android phone, but from a hardware standpoint it looks solid. Software wise...well if it doesn't keep at 60fps all around with those specs, I'll have no hope anymore.
Just upgraded the storage on my Galaxy S. Still waiting on my USB OTG cable to arrive so I can plug in even more storage.

Does anyone have a good recommendation of a keyboard (maybe keyboard case) for the nexus 7?
I searched and there is just too many mixed review on anything
Swiftkey is the best from what I've used. TouchPal is probably second best.

From what I can tell, the current software build is not considered complete. Pretty sure that the only potential issue is software, and worst case scenario a ROM/patch will be able to fix things like jpeg compression.
It should run well as an Android phone, Sense looks like it no longer has a bunch of intensive animations and effects.
In other news, I just bought a 2 dollar camera app for the 8X that gives full manual control. It is amazing to be able to turn on and off LED autofocus assist, change exposure time, and manually set focus.
lower screen brightness

I have brightness set to low, never have GPS or Bluetooth on, and only have Wifi on when im at home or in college.
I've got an HTC DNA and I am interested in live streaming a road trip coming up. I intend to mount my phone on my dash facing forwards so the camera can stream the road ahead.
The problem I am facing is that if I want to switch to navigation and still stream I can't . Ustream, Livestream, and Justin.tv all stop broadcasting as soon as the app is backgrounded or I switch to another app such as navigation.
Is there a way to:
1. Stop any of these apps from shutting down when switching to another app?
or
2. Use another app entirely that supports what I want to do?
Thanks...
streaming using ustream is very shitty quality. you can actually stream in a much higher quality using an iOS device. Haven't tried other services like Livestream.

That looks like a really nice screen.
That thread was short.... so, I wanted to get some advice.
In seriously considering upgrading to the X Phone this summer (if the pricing rumors are true) and i was wondering if you all thought that was a good idea.
At that point, I will have had my Maxx for just over a year.

Closed soak test. Rollout should be in March. Of you want, you can get the official leak from XDA. I'm running it. Its pretty good.
