I want to flash my Gingerbread to Paranoid Android (CM9), what should I know before I do this?
Also, If I flashed Stock back, and the Operator wouldn't notice it, my warranty wouldn't be void?

What phone is it?

If you unroot, your warranty is intact, should you ever need to get it fixed.

Well, it's a Xperia Play R800i from Austrian Vodafone, with stock Sony firmware.
It's rooted with SuperOneClick.
(Yeah, I know. But it's my first smartphone, and it's good enough for me.)
Adding icons to the desktop, from what I can see custom wallpapers as well.
A few bugs here and there as well, animations not displaying correctly or icons dissappering.
For launchers I would give it a 6/10. Going to muck around with a few tomorrow most likely. Sadly I can't do everything I Want as I don't want to wipe to root my N4 just yet.

I checked it out on Google Play, and it looked kinda cool, but it's definitely not worth the money. Reading the reviews made it look even worse. I'm running ADW right now, which I find is pretty much just perfect. But that's probably because I love the standard ICS launcher, but I just wanted a tad bit more customization, like being able to add and remove home screens or put extra icons on the little bar at the bottom.

This looks like a good tutorial. Do some research on how well CM9 has worked for others with the same phone. Make sure you have full root and backup.
Is it really that bad that you'd judge someone for buying one? Or are you pretentiously emphasizing your point? I'd assume you aren't truly that shallow.
It's not judging, it's just that Samsung has gotten to the point that there's mainstream support, so there's plenty of people that buy it because "LOL SAMSUNG ROOLS".
Yah, and it's stupid because like it was said earlier, the HTC One is matching the Exynos 5 in AnTuTu with four 1.7GHz Krait 600 cores. I would honestly want the S4 that uses a Qualcomm SoC. No dealing with a server grade CPU shoved in a phone.
The US version is going to launch the S600 at 1.9 GHz too. It's going to be hilarious to see the US version out-benchmark the international version if the CPU is really that limited.

Honestly, I'd say that the Lumia 920 probably has better OIS, but a worse sensor. HTC's OIS sounds like it only compensates for shake, not the actual camera moving.
Just as I was getting over the discovery that my phone probably isn't getting Jellybean any time soon, I was teased by the fact that the update released today for the European model. Well, at least that means that if my version ever gets Jellybean it probably shouldn't be too far from now.
[editline]15th March 2013[/editline]
Neat, apparently the update also unlocks the bootloader.

From the looks of those comparisons, the 920 has a fucking shit camera compared to the rest.
Does anyone know what the Droid 4 XT894 is like (as in any opinion at all)? I know it's pretty dated by now, but I'm looking to upgrade my Droid 1 (Yay for Android 2.2 FROYO). I like the QWERTY keyboard.
I also have to figure out if I can get it from the US and if it will work in Australia; they definitely don't sell them in Australia. The best I can do inside of Australia is Droid 3.
[editline]Edited:[/editline]
According to my service provider Droid 4 should work as long as it is unlocked.
I would only ever buy a QWERTY keyboard phone. Even if they are a quarter the awesome of your average handset.

Horribly outdated. Sorry to say it, but there's no other words for it. Motorola is ditching everything soon because just like HTC, they have way too many legacy devices to support, and the new devices need real support.
At this point I would not recommend any QWERTY phones. Most if not all of their hardware are all terrible to be honest.

I get that. Actually I have never had any support from Motorola for my Milestone (I had to force the FROYO update because they wouldn't do it with the built in function). I don't think they have ever actually provided ongoing support for any of their phones. Support I am not concerned over.

I'm kinda a die hard QWERTY keyboard fan. My Milestone is the greatest designed phone I have seen (I have low standards). Assuming I must have a phone, I guess what I was looking for is how much an improvement is Droid 4 over 1. I kinda assume from the spec differences it must be pretty big, but it's possible that with the better specs comes more intensive software that means the difference is minimal.
I should have been more specific.
As an aside, can you actually buy unlocked Droid 4's or are they all locked to Verizon networks? I am unfamiliar as to how mobiles operate in the USA.
I was a keyboard fan too, but if you try and learn how to use and master Swype on any touchscreen phones, you'll never look back on keyboard phones again.

The hardware inside the Droid 4 won't ever support Australian networks
Swype keyboards make writing on android so easy. Just install swift key or get a phone with the latest version of jellybean which has it built into the default keyboard.
What do you guys find is the best launcher for customization?
The hardware inside the Droid 4 won't ever support Australian networks
Can you tell me why exactly? Telstra said if I can get an unlocked version of the phone it will work.
My GPS seems to be perfectly accurate.

Here's a quick list of common launchers:
GO Launcher Ex
Pros: Highly customisable, lots of features, lots of themes
Cons: Slow, fair bit of RAM usage
Nova/Apex
Pros: Fast, #HOLO
Cons: Not very customisable
Next Launcher
Pros: SMOOTH AS FUCK, next-gen homescreen management, regular updates
Cons: Can't disable animations, wasted space, not many features like gestures etc
TSF Launcher
Pros: SMOOTH AS FUCK, next-gen homescreen management, whole new UI design
Cons: Currently has no dock support (coming at the end of the month), interface can be weird

Go Launcher Ex has pretty regular updates, actually pretty often. Whenever I checked my friend's phone it would pretty much always have an update to any of the Go apps
tsf launcher is the worst thing in the world
What about MathStep? Seems like the app you want
Little funfact: That app is made by Overv
I'm using Action Launcher just because I wanted to support the guy. It's not bad.
I use Nova. It's quite nice.
I held an XPeria Z in my hand today. The screen is nice dead on, except for the black being gray.
When you tilt it, the black looks like light gray. What the fuck, Sony.
Sony also made the theme gray for some odd reason.

It does have a quad-band GSM radio with a SIM slot, so it may work. However, the phone is intended and designed to work with Verizon's CDMA and 4G networks, with GSM being a backup mode when your roaming out of country. Having the phone function purely as a GSM phone may result in some wacky quirks and will definitely require some manual configuration. I guarantee your going to need to root and flash a custom ROM to get it working properly as a pure GSM phone to disable the CDMA and 4G stuff, as well as whatever Verizon oriented settings and apps included.

I found some instructions on how to set it up as purely GSM phone. Mind you, if you ever travel to the US, the phone will NOT work, as US GSM carriers are blocked at the firmware level (according to that post, which wouldn't surprise me because its Verizon, and its probably to prevent signal conflicts).
SDK Manager won't launch for me, any solutions?
