The most interesting 1080p phone would be the Xperia Z for me, since it's waterproof and looks pretty great, plus onscreen buttons are a huge positive IMO. Too bad the displays viewing angles are apparently terrible, it seems a bit too big already (temporary feeling until you have the phone) and the power/volume button placement is retarded.
I can't see why the volume/power buttons are in a bad place, if you have small hands you wouldn't have to use another hand or lift your hand to the top. Generally a lot of people hold it right in the middle making it easier for someone to lock it or change volume. Though the speaker is in a terrible place.
It's a personal opinion of course, but I would hold the phone in a way that my thumb would pretty much be right at the buttons. Could cause accidental clicks if I wanted to hold it firmly.
And yes, I completely forgot about the speaker.
i keep accidentally switching off my phone when trying to change the volume
also am i the only one that doesn't like onscreen buttons, seriously, they're totally meh

I don't like them.
Is there an option to merge status bar into soft keys? I remember some tablets have that option enabled.

A lot of people don't.
I really give no shits, they are navigation buttons.

I know there was an option on a ROM I had on my Nexus 7, but it changed layouts in lots of other apps as well (I think it messed with the pixel density). And caused lots of other funkiness.

'Paranoid Android' has that option and to my knowledge doesn't really create any problems.
paranoid android rom lets you change all that crap

wow
'Paranoid Android' has that option and to my knowledge doesn't really create any problems.
Maybe Paranoid implements it better. All I know is that it caused some weird layouts in some apps on the particular ROM I used.
Anyone else really like the RAZR HD?

Paranoid lets you change the layout per app, so your Email app can be 160dpi and in tablet mode, while your play store runs in 240 phone mode.

But yeah, paranoid has the merge option. I'd use it but I have hardware keys (Evo 3D).

Okay, that sounds way better. Might try to find a paranoid rom for my N7.

I like everything but the display.
[editline]17th March 2013[/editline]
And camera, that thing blows.

I like them and hate them. I mean I like how I don't have to worry about breaking the actual button since it's on the screen and not really physical, but I hate it that I always misclick them so I would want hardware buttons but then I feel like I'd break those hardware buttons...
Yeah.

That is what makes Capacitive hardware keys great, the only way you can break them is to also break the rest of the touchscreen. Plus sweep2wake.

Some phones have that, I don't think mine does but I don't mind.
I have a microSD card that I'd like to use with my phone, so I'm going to pick up the S4. I was going to get a case for whatever phone I get anyway so looks are negligible.

get a case, better safe than sorry
I literally never use cases and I have never cracked or even partially damaged any of my mobile devices (iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2nd Gen, Nexus 7, HTC Desire HD)
Maybe other people are just really clumsy/have bad motor skills, I dunno.
Just use a pouch imo.
[editline]18th March 2013[/editline]
I'd rather use the device as it was designed and have a slight damage risk over having a clunky case that makes the phone both uglier and heavier

I would never set my phone display-down on a table without a case.
I would never set my phone display-down on a table without a case.
Why would you ever do that?
I don't have a case either for my phone, never had since I got it. Only screen protectors. Right now the home button is all scratched up at the top part. Cases can be super cheap. Like a dollar or so with free shipping from Hong Kong.
I would never set my phone display-down on a table without a case.
I do it every day. Get a phone with a screen that doesn't extrude past the skirting and touch the table.
I don't like to see my phone get dirty from my touch. Every time I replace a screen protector, I feel glad that I use them.
I guess you can say I constantly clean my phone screen with a screen protector on.
Maybe it's some sort of compulsive disorder, I dunno...
I clean the screen of new devices like mad, but over time I realise it's pointless and actually makes it more annoying to use
When you clean a screen really well the fingerprints are more obvious
If I stopped caring about the cleaning, it would get so dirty so fast that I will be scraping off crap every time I used the screen.
Motorola phones are clearly superior
locked bootloaders are only there because that is Motorola's vision for a superior phone
PS fuck Motorola

But I like my Razr M. And besides, I'm running CM10. It can't be that hard to exploit it.
