I would say Virgin Media, but their customer support and management is absolutely shit, they accidentally cancelled all our tv and internet services for a week. This isnt all...
Entanet, I use UKFSN. http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_ratings.php
I'm on BE, switched from BT. You have to ignore EVERYTHING BT tell you over the phone, according to BT 2Mb is the max speed I can handle on my lines. After swapping to BE i'm currently rollin on 16Mb on the same lines :D
You think you UKers have slow speeds the US is worse. I have 1.5 meg internet it sucks.
Our infrastructure sucks :frown:
What's wrong with virgin? I'm on virgin and I'm getting good speed 1mb/s
Everyone says BE, but I can't find their site on google.
Everyone says BE, but I can't find their site on google.
https://www.bethere.co.uk/web/beportal/homepage I googled BE internet First link
Im on virgin media, and they're really good. I dont really always get my top speed of 20mbp/s, but they have excellent technical support, they come out to you really fast and have a good service.
Everyone I know says Be. Just stay the hell away from Tiscali.
i went from BT to Sky Best desicion i ever mad
i went from BT to Sky Best desicion i ever mad
Please tell me this is trolling. :ohdear:
Have different ISPs come out to your house and run line tests. Go with the provider with the greatest speed-to-price ratio.
Only get Virgin Media if it's the XXL package. If not get Be/o2
Just stay the hell away from Tiscali.
I'm fucked then.
Virgin Media :smug:
:krad2:
You guys can complain all you want...But I'm still stuck on 2mb broadband and download at 250kb/s when I should be getting 24mb broadband. God, I hate Karoo :(
Been with NTL/Virgin media for 9-and-a-bit years now and I have never had any serious issues, and I've always got the speed I pay for! Plus, They mirror stuff on their servers, Meaning some things can be had from reliable servers at maximum speed!: http://ubuntu.virginmedia.com/releases/ http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/blueyondergames/ http://mirrors.virginmedia.com They really need to appoint a new person to maintain the mirrors though - (The linux ones seem to stay bang up to date though)
Virgin Media is fucking poison. I wouldn't go back to them if they fucking paid me. Their throttling rules for ADSL are horrible, and the executive director has spoken out openly against Net Neutrality. Be broadband is <3
You think you UKers have slow speeds the US is worse. I have 1.5 meg internet it sucks.
US is also a lot larger than the UK both land and population wise and is therefore harder to implement faster internet EDIT: I'm talking about like, better lines and fiber optics, not the speeds themselves
Virgin broadband kills your download speeds if you download more than a set amount during peak hours (it depends on which package you're on, on 10mb broadband I think it's 800 megabytes). Peak hours are between 4 and 9 I think. If you download more than this amount during this time your speeds are reduced to 2.5mb for 5 whole hours. Which makes gaming, watching youtube and iplayer a downright bitch (My Fakefactory Cinematic Mod 10 (I'll delete the Alyx models don't worry) download has been going for about 5 days now because my parents don't like leaving the pc on overnight and I have to download during peak hours). Other than that, the speeds are usually what they advertise, I get between 800 and 1200 kb/s for the most part, and it only occasionally dips below 500, and I live pretty far away from the local exchange. If you don't care about downloading huge files, then go with Virgin.
I downloaded dod:s gmod hl2:ep2 in 15minutes @ 1.2mb/s then my internet dropped to 50kb/s Fun.
Virgin Media :smug:
How was this dumb, I use Virgin media, and they are good
aite, Be it is.
/end thread
Whats the fastest internet connection you can possibly get to your home in uk? :o
The fastest wide-reach service is Virgin Media's 50Mb XXL Package. Virgin have also trialed 200Mb Connections. The technology used to implement the 50Mb Service can go much faster. Of course you could become your own ISP, I'd love to see someone make that financially feasible though ;)
I'm fucked then.
Tiscali is Carphone Warehouse now, which also runs TalkTalk and AOL UK (which I'm on) - they're not THAT bad. Also Be is a subdivision of O2 (which is owned by Telefonica), and I have been strongly recommended to change to O2 by the owner of: Who obviously knows his stuff :P

Also BE isn't a 'subdivision', they were bought by Telefónica, which isn't the same thing
