Any suggestions as to what hdd to get?
Which one of these does it look like?

(the connectors)
Sata.
How big was your old one?
Its small as shit. It is an 80gb hitachi @ 5200rpm. There are no measurements on it though. Its like 1/4" thick, 2-3" wide and like 4" long.
Would you like the same size or get something a little bigger?
About the same size.

I'd go with this. 320GB for $65, and it is made by Western Digital (good hdd company in my experience).
Might get 500GB. They're priced really closely, Samsung has some damn nice HDDs too; Samsung Spinpoint. It's cheap and fast.
Any laptop stata drive will work get the cheapest from newegg.
Also: The problem with your current drive is that there was probably a small head crash on the boot sector you may be able to use it as storage try to reformat it with ubuntu when I had a drive with bad sectors it prompted me to ignore the bad sectors to have slightly less space.
