You can't play games with physx, and I also need CUDA for some other stuff
it's called you don't turn physx on
Do I get better performance with an ATI cards that costs the same as the 480?
why get such an ugly case when you have so much money seriously
Do I get better performance with an ATI cards that costs the same as the 480?
I dont know about in the US but you can get a 5970 for the price of a GTX480. A 480 is marginally faster than a 5870, and a 5970 is two 5870s on a single card so you can see the reasoning.
You can't play games with physx, and I also need CUDA for some other stuff
Hey bud, I got a 5850. Just Cause 2 CUDA water? It works. Physx in Batman: Arkham Asylum? It works. Do I lag with Physx? Oh HELL yeah that's why I don't play with it turned on. Also you can get like, a 5970 and an 8800GT that you can dedicate to Physx.
Maybe someone who's more expert than me could edit my build and change/remove some stuff (like the card) so that it costs less but has the same performance? Thank you [editline]04:57PM[/editline]
Hey bud, I got a 5850. Just Cause 2 CUDA water? It works. Physx in Batman: Arkham Asylum? It works. Do I lag with Physx? You could, but there are little point to it tbh.
You could, but there are little point to it tbh.
Why? The 9600 GT would be spare if I buy a new pc [editline]05:09PM[/editline] What if, instead of a 480 I buy two 470 and sli them. For around 740 $ I'd have almost double the performance of a 5970, and physx + cuda
Get the nice looking GTX 480, the one with the grill, this one looks like shite.
It looks like that because it requires water cooling to cool it. Do you know anything about computers, or did you just rush in here to post shit because of the pricetag?
What do I think of that build? huge waste of money
Reg you don't need to waste $3k on a computer, when for $1.5k you can max out any game, and I do mean any. Buy 2 computers for $1.5k and have a mini-lan or use one as a server.
Also look at this What does it mean exactly? Is the 5970 THAT better?
i think you are a troll
i think you are a troll
So do I, no one would waste that much money.
Radeon 5970 is much better than Nvidia 480 or 470, and if you really want PhysX, you can buy a 5970 and a little GeForce 9800GT with. Yes, Nvidia had diseable PhysX for anyone who have an ATI card, but there is a mod for to download. Why spending so much on a processor ? If you want Intel, the i7 860 (or i7 920-930, they are exactly the same but only if you want a socket 1366) is okay. AMD is great too for gaming PC, with Phenom II X4 965. For the OS, take Windows Seven Familial Edition 64bits OEM, Ultimate and Pro are useless for you.
Why an i7? An i5 would do you just fine.
So do I, no one would waste that much money.
The top of the line Apple computers run for that price. If he's grown up in a Mac-using family, he could be familiar with those prices, thinking you'd have to pay that much for a certain performance.
i7 860 is kinda better than i5 750 for performances for this budget. Holy shit I didn't see the double PSU. What the fuck :v:
It looks like that because it requires water cooling to cool it. Do you know anything about computers, or did you just rush in here to post shit because of the pricetag?
I rushed in here because of the pricetag
i7 860 is kinda better than i5 750 for performances for this budget.
How? The only difference is hyperthreading and a slightly higher clock.
I rushed in here because of the pricetag
[sp]So did I[/sp] :ninja:
How? The only difference is hyperthreading and a slightly higher clock.
I think it's better for him to buy this thing than a huge i7 975 EE, which could be very "useless" for his use. But after he can buy others processors for less expensive, of course.
Holy shit I didn't see the double PSU. What the fuck :v:
I thought I was the only one that had noticed that. Seriously, what the shit.
i'll make a build for you 200 dollars cheaper if you send me 100 bucks
Don't listen to what people say about nvidia. If you need cuda, get nvidia. More and more 3d apps start using cuda, and the new nvidia series are like consumer workstation cards, so if you do 3d, that's what you get, a nvidia.
Hydro copper? You were planning on using a GFX card set up for watercooling and NOT watercool it? Or did I miss something?
Hydro copper? You were planning on using a GFX card set up for watercooling and NOT watercool it? Or did I miss something?
You didn't miss anything. OP is just an idiot.
Hydro copper? You were planning on using a GFX card set up for watercooling and NOT watercool it? Or did I miss something?
No that's about the jist of it.

I wasn't talking about physx junk, I was talking about cuda. You can't use a nvidia card only for cuda and an ati for all other stuff. And even if you could, you would need a powerful nvidia for cuda stuff.
