Is it just me or did any body else think OP meant Deutsche Demokratische Republik? I'm serious.
What the fuck.
good thing I don't plan on buying ram anytime soon.

Maybe if you're German.
DDR3 is cheaper than DDR2 right now.
Thank god my friend gave me 4GB 2x2gb DDR2 800 ram for free, I think sometime last year 1GB SDRAM cost 30£, I cant imagine what it is now :v:
It's so expensive because it's not being produced anymore. Same goes for DDR1
Want expensive? Go look at the Corsair Dominator tri-channel kit.
Original was 159.99 now it's 229.99.

This is PCHS, no one here things of that stupid game when DDR2 is mentioned.
I always think of Dance Dance Revolution when I see DDR RAM. And I frankly don't even know what kind of game it is, except maybe it has something to do with dancing.
i just bought 2gb DDR2 800 RAM for 42 euro when last month it was 29euro... :/
Crap, I got 4gb of 1066mhz RAM about 4 months ago for £30, it's now £80. That's shocking.
80? What?
Don't the Core i5's use DDR2? Or is it dual channel DDR3 and not triple?
This is PCHS, no one here things of that stupid game when DDR2 is mentioned.
I do sometimes.

Dual ddr3.
In that case LONG LIVE DDR3. My laptop has it, and so should my PC if I wasn't so poor
I was about to post this exact thread.
:v:

Rambus
I got a OCZ 2x2gb Reaper HPC kit about 2 months ago for 45 bucks. Awesome deal in my mind.
They have some pretty awesome heatpipe heatsinks on them too.

Me too, I've got 2 of those kits. Now I can sell them for a profit :q:
Shit I need to buy some DDR2 memory.
Holy crap, the 4GB that I bought for $25 off tiger direct last year is now $85. talk about savings
xram
GDDR3 RAM, find it, try. It's what they use in 360's and I think in PS3's as well. It must be good, the 360 only has half a gig of it and performs very well for what it's worth.

Same, my brand new mobo uses DDR2! (Because DDR3 was more expensive when I last compared prices months ago.)

all the NVIDIA GTX 200s series use GDDR3 ram, why didn't you bother with that
SON OF A BITCH! :bang:
I could of gotten five gigs of ram for less than $100 last year and now there is no way I can do it for less than that. I should of stockpiled some. Stupid me.....
Hah I paid $51.99 for this in April. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=4352320&sku=C13-5214&srkey=C13-5214
The transition between DDR2 and DDR3. I also heard that its manufacturing cost has gone up, but I can't confirm it.
It was really was when DDR2 was over produced and resulted in overstock that they had to get rid off, that's why we had so much rebates and savings, especially in 2008.
DDR1 is because no one really makes it anymore and there's still shitloads of old boxes using it.
[editline]12:03AM[/editline]
DDR3 was sorta flooded during the start of this year.
supply and demand
Probably the same reason DIP-mounted SRAM chips cost like $20 for 1 32KB chip. >:C
Of course the prices of that and DDR1 are going to rise since almost nothing uses them anymore, DDR2 is still quite popular.
That's stupid, you drop the price of old shit so you can remove it from stock and get some newer stuff in while still keeping a bit of the older stuff in stock.

People still use them, but they're not being made (or not in the same numbers as they were), so supply is down while demand is still up. :eng101:
