Of what you described all you need is the 545
Get a 550 and unlock the cores.

I repeat:
I don't know how to OC or unlock cores. I'd like to learn, but without too much risk to my rig.
630

To clarify for OP, that would be the AMD Athlon II X4 630. It's a $100 Quad Core.

Wouldn't the Phenom II X3 720BE be better? It's only 30 dollars more and it's cache isn't crippled. Also if he ever decides to over clock, the 720BE hits like 3.8Ghz with ease, so why not?
meh, the 630 and 720X3 run side by side-ish
no they don't. 720 rapes it
I wouldn't call 7fps a rape but what ever floats your boat
Buy a gigabyte motherboard.
Overclocking is a breeze.

Judging by FPS alone, yeah they're about side by side. Start getting into editing/encoding/encrypting/etc. and the difference is massive.
FOR THE LAST TIME:
I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO OVERCLOCK
...although it'd be nice if somebody could teach me how. :v:

From what I saw in the Anadtech article, the 620/630 was consistently better at everything that wasn't games.

Not exactly rape either.
The benchmarks I've seen were on another forum, they may have been picked out more selectively. But from what I had seen, the 720 raped it.
