there's reason to overclock, gtx 295 are slightly bottlenecked on a core i7
what? no.
you're dumb
Stop being an Nvidia fantard. Currently, no GPU is really bottlenecked by an i7, even the GTX 295. I know you wish it wasn't so, but it's true.

Alright, multi-GPU gaming then. Surprisingly (not!) we start to see CPU limitation here. And only after 1920x1200 we see COD5 scale properly.
look at the bottom of the page
also notice the multiple tense gtx 295 are not is, due to sli.
If you are implying that I am jealous, you are dead wrong. My system is almost as good as his is. He spent more money on components but they won't be used to their full potential for a while. All I am saying is that if your computer runs crysis at 250fps why would you overclock and risk damage if you would get 300fps?
Currently, the reason why I have full watercooling is noise reduction.
I wasn't refering directly to you at all, it was an accumulation of all the people that have commented asking why he is spending so much money or time and dedication on this build.
Ninja'd :P
Sorry, didn't read your post.
Gotta say, the way you typed made me spill my drink...out my nose. That guy's accent and overuse of a small selection of phrases is priceless.

Darkride's dumb or I'm dumb?
Darkride's dumb or I'm dumb?
dark, we both quoted him, he quoted us for emphasis
Erm, the article I posted disproves your idea, so you might want to check that out.
What?
That's freaking dumb
It's a bottleneck when the CPU usage at 100%
Get it riet fanboi
the limitation of a core i7 is apparent when you add 3 285's, due to the card's having more power than the 8 core processor can handle, and i think that's at three point eight gigahertz. the games today can't utilize all 8 cores on a processor.

I WANT TO REACH THROUGH THE SCREEN AND SMACK YOU
Prove it.
You realize that that site you linked to was talking about low resolutions, where all games/cards get to be more and more CPU limited. Did you know that when testing CPUs for gaming, they lower all settings, especially the resolution, as much as possible to take the load off the GPU and put it on the CPU?

what the fuck are you talking about? the framerates are the same on sli and tri sli, at 2560x1600, to 1920x 1200. you DO NOT THROUGH YOUR HATRED OF ME REALIZE THAT THE GAME CANNOT UTILIZE OVER 4 CORES. the i linked to this page at the very bottom.
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-285-review--3way-sli/14
HOLY SHIT
That is a complete beast!!! Nice work man!! i wish I had the money to do something like that! Omg that thing would be so great!

you're dumb. You claim that the GTX295 bottlenecks an i7?
what that test shows is that that game doesn't support even HALF of the power of the core i7 can put out. What you have there is a SOFTWARE BOTTLENECK, not a hardware one in the least.
you're wrong

Yeah those are some crazy benchmark results.

this. You don't even NEED 250 fps in the first place, human eyes can only see 60 fps. But hurr i wanna get liek 300fps man
money
you have alot more than I do
:crying:
If i'm dumb then you must be le retard, because i don't think you realize what your implying, you say nothing can be bottlenecked by a corei7 at stock when i clearly show that it can be, and that the hyperthreading doesn't matter. so it's only 4 cores, meaning i'd be right, due to hyperthreading not effecting the outcome of it.
and if you don't beleive that, let this chart explain it by showing that a qx9770 is faster than a '8' core proccesor with ht. http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/desktop-cpu-charts-q3-2008/compare,836.html?prod%5B2271%5D=on&prod%5B2178%5D=on
now, if you wouldkindly shut the hell up and stop trying to flame me, i suggest that we both get back to the point.
/end rage.
apwd, what are your temps with the watercooling on those video cards, and may i ask what benchmarks you will use to test that beast?
also even more proof

and.

Pretty sure you're the person losing this argument.
Darkride what the hell.
The CPU is a bottleneck only when it's being used 100%+

I'm sorry to have to intervene, but you are wrong darkride196.
You just got fucking TOLD, darky.

i'm not wrong 3 way sli 285's will bottleneck a 965, look,
In a Multi-GPU we stumble again into a CPU bottleneck, until we reach 2560x1600 though. Look at 3-way SLI rocket launching itself.
bottom of the page here, look at the benchmarks. all 3 benchmarks were bottlenecked by a corei7.
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-285-review--3way-sli/19
actually read the benchmark and you'll see that a 3 way gpu can and will bottleneck a 965 even clocked at 3.75ghz
"until we reach 2560x1600 though"
So the CPU bottlenecks unless you set the game to a resolution that forces nearly all graphical data into the graphics cards? So basically you've proven what's already known? What.
Does it matter, he already has the stuff. It might bottleneck, but it will still play fantastic-like.
Does it matter, he already has the stuff. It might bottleneck, but it will still play fantastic-like.
Yes but overclocking it wont give any tangible performance boost unless you are folding proteins.
Darkride's dumb or I'm dumb?
Oh, woops. I thought the dumb post was a reply to yours. You're dumb.
An i7 bottlenecks a single GTX 295.

finally someone who know's what i'm talking about.
