So which one IS the most accurate? Currently, I use both HWMonitor and Core Temp, and the readings are pretty consistent.
It really depends on the CPU you're using, usually I'd say get at least two or three recently updated temp reading programs and work out the average.
I've always relied on CoreTemp really, but they both read from the same sensors so I don't seem how they get different readings.
CPUs do not report their temperatures, they report how far away they are from their maximum temperature. Their maximum temperature is known as TJ Max (TJ standing for Thermal Junction). Say their TJ Max is 100°c, and they are 30°c away from that, 100-30 = 70, therefore the CPU temperature is 70°c. The problem begins when there is (often) not a official figure for a CPU's maximum temperature, and it is therefore left to the program writer to estimate it. This can create a huge variation between programs. The same applies with BIOS tempeture reading, and that is often even less accurate.
Don't Intel publish them eventually at http://ark.intel.com?
Eventually, for some CPUs. Although that still cannot account for the differences in each batch of chips used, god knows why temperature gathering works like that, although I'm sure there's a good reason for it.
I've got an E8500 I want to get as cool as possible with WC, is a 360mm Swiftech rad enough? Hoping to do 4.5ghz+ with it. Getting the 18w pump too. Edit: apwd007, you got MSN?

I have a similar system, and i can tell you that water cooling wasn't necessary unless you're overclocking. Specs -------------------------------- 2 EVGA GTX 295's 8GB DDR3 Corsair XMS Series 1600mhz ram intel core i7 920 Coolermaster 850W Sli Certified Power Supply Thermaltake Spedo (:P) Full Tower case EVGA x58 motherboard Ah. 4.2ghz on you're processer. Nevermind. Mine's at 3.2
Yeah, it's on my profile
Looked there, couldn't see it.
Try SiSoft Sandra for temps and other things. It's a bit bloated but seems very reliable.
Why 8gb? =/
because im a fucking dumbass and wasted money :(

No the computer itself.
nevermind. looks good
haha why you change your mind all of a sudden
I thought it was some NZXT or something then I saw Thermaltake.
I thought it was some NZXT or something then I saw Thermaltake.
I love thermaltake =) I was going to get a lian li pc-80 but it was 300 bucks or so...thats a little overkill for a case.
Thermaltake's cases are expensive.
Cosmos 1000 are fine for me.

Does GTA4 support SLi? I heard it doesn't in some places.
If you don't like the quality, suck it, making do with a still camera.
I like how quiet it is, when you can hear the noise of the camera lens adjusting over the computer.
Holy shit.
