But they're just not worth it...

There's 4 of them to decrease load times by a ton. And nobody will ever need quad crossfire 5970, even my build's crossfire with 5870's is overkill. Oh and stop with the bandwagon shit, NZXT makes great cases, but their newer cases looks stupid.
Lian Li makes nice cases. But they're just not worth it...
if you're willing to spend the money, they're unarguably worth it
i don't think you can raid that well/much without a controller and those go sky high in prices having JBOD does not increase speeds you know
I don't own a raid controller, I'm using the nvidia i650 chip that's in my motherboard. Stop trying to sneak yourself out of the fact that you posted to get into a pointless arguement that you thought you'd win and now we're stuck with the fact that you won't give in on the fact that 4 drives > 1, even if it's on an inbuilt raid controller.

does he even need two monitors? whose to say he doesn't already have a monitor to begin with?
does he even need two monitors? whose to say he doesn't already have a monitor to begin with?
Everyone needs two monitors, one of the best investments you can make on a computer imho.
for gaming? really?
for gaming? really?
Not explicitly for gaming, but for everything else you do it is a great thing to have.
well seeing as clearly the OP's main goal in mind is for gaming, more than one monitor doesn't have much of a point for him.
well seeing as clearly the OP's main goal in mind is for gaming, more than one monitor doesn't have much of a point for him.
I highly doubt you've ever experienced gaming on two or more monitors.
the only time I ever find dual screens useful is for CAD, but for gaming its just shit, except eyefinity on racing games
the only time I ever find dual screens useful is for CAD, but for gaming its just shit, except eyefinity on racing games
You need 3 monitors to game on 2 just doesn't work well because of the bevels right in the middle.
yeah well he has the money, and it's a better investment than 4 harddrives imo he can just use if for productivity [editline]11:33PM[/editline] and looking badass
I highly doubt you've ever experienced gaming on two or more monitors.
dual screen gaming is terrible, are you kidding? what, do you like a nice 2-inch black bar down the middle of your view? triple screen gaming is cool but the cost doesn't seem worth it to me.
yeah I didn't say to use eyefinity of anything..

interesting rationality [editline]07:31PM[/editline] that said i've only heard bad things about G.Skill you're better off with 4GB Corsair or OCZ than 8GB G.Skill
interesting rationality [editline]07:31PM[/editline] that said i've only heard bad things about G.Skill you're better off with 4GB Corsair or OCZ than 8GB G.Skill
Who's the one(s) that told you about bad shit about G.Skill?

I've always included a raid of atleast 2 drives, in all of the builds I've made, as load times are the most underrated part of a computer. Sure you may get +90 fps in crysis very high, but that doesn't mean it takes 7 minutes to load. Besides, the 5970 are gonna be sold out till EP3 is released, so I chose 2x5870's instead.
but it doesn't take 7 minutes to load [editline]12:54PM[/editline] and using mothboard raid it will still take like 3.5 minutes+
but it doesn't take 7 minutes to load [editline]12:54PM[/editline] and using mothboard raid it will still take like 3.5 minutes+
Then please, explain me why I'm getting 270MB/s read on my raid of 2 drives, using my motherboards inbuilt raid chip. I've noticed a huge visual improvement on loadtimes after I swapped from my old 80MB/s drive to my new raid setup.

Skill is among the top names in RAM. Unless you can back up that statement, or any of your other statements, you need to be quiet.
So did you buy an alienware comp i heard they are especially designed for gaming and they look cool
So did you buy an alienware comp i heard they are especially designed for gaming and they look cool
The computer he is about to build is specially designed for gaming and is half the price of an Alienware.
this is raiding with 4 drives motherboard statrs sucking after 3+ i still don't see why someone would spend 300 dollars on load times all it shows is how retarded impatient some are
Not only on load times. On a $2000 computer, you don't want a single terabyte of space. By installing all of my steam games, I've already used up half a terabyte, and then there's all the addons and shit I need to download extra. So really, for $2000 you can do better than 1TB of space, even my old piece of shit has 2TB of space.
