Don't worry, I think it is not related to the 1.000 users mark. I'm sure there were more than that in the conference, and i don't think valve would do such a thing. Also, sauce http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/10/valve-talk-steam-for-linux-at-uds
I guess that means their quota for external invites has been given out then :smith:
There's currently 581 people registered, including people who signed up after Valve was on stage.
I think they said it's unrelated to the signup page, either way.
Hi, I installed Ubuntu on my Nexus 7 tablet. Since it's a tablet, everything's tiny as fuck. I have installed LXDE for now, but it's not perfect - while I managed to resize some things, apps like Chromium (and the taskbar) are still tiny. Is there a window manager that would allow me to make all the UI elements bigger?
Since it's a tablet, everything's tiny as fuck.
No, that's actually because it has a high pixel density.

Its amazing how Linux put me down to 27 FPS in Minecraft, unity.. Are you doing this to me?
Linux usually runs Minecraft slightly faster than Windows for me, and I'm not running Unity, so that could be it
Unity is terrible for performance fucking Compiz
What DE then, XFCE seems a bit odd to me, but still good. Cinnamon is awesome to me but I feel it's not very special. It doesn't have that feeling to it. [editline]29th October 2012[/editline] That made no sense, well Cinnamon is looking good but I don't see any special to it.
Unity is terrible for performance
It's overall terrible.

Do not listen to him! Go for XFCE/MATE immediately!
A fight between 2 facepunchers, who should I listen to?! :suicide:
screw everyone and do whatever that will suit your desktop environment ideology
I've tried MATE before and liked it, however my skills making it looks good is terrible, can I have a look at your desktop?
Always.

[editline]29th October 2012[/editline] That made no sense, well Cinnamon is looking good but I don't see any special to it.
I used cinnamon for a bit and didn't really like it; it's OK but I don't ike the way the menus are laid out (the start menu style layout seems really inefficient for whatever reason) and there are a bunch of little animation flourishes that do less to make it 'flow' and more just make it feel slow. Use MATE, it's the best one I've tried and is especially good if you don't want to spend ages setting your DE/WM etc up. [editline]29th October 2012[/editline]
Always.
What font is that? Looks pretty nice.
Square721 BT - The official PSP font.
Unity is terrible for performance fucking Compiz
It's so fucking ugly as well, and all the 3D bollocks impressed me when I was like 14 but now it just looks tacky. 'Wobbly windows' is the sign of the death of civilization as we know it.
Always.
That is so fucking sexy, teach me yo skills
Square721 BT - The official PSP font.
"classy british comrade" ?
If I'm using the Wubi installer for Ubuntu, do I need to create a partition to put it on before installing?
"classy british comrade" ?
Classyness. [sp]i rated you disagree by a mistake, forgive me sir[/sp]
I never knew people would refer British "classy". Feels good.
Do you possibly mean "Refer to (the) British as 'classy'" or something I'm finding it really hard to read that sentence
I'm unsure on how to install themes, so right now my point is Ubuntu 12.10, I go to software center and get gnome-panel? (I think that's what I did last time) - GTK2 is gnome 2 or MATE right? So how would I compile it and what exactly do you mean by that. [sp]i feel like I shouldn't use Linux, I have a feeling this is basic stuff[/sp]
Do you possibly mean "Refer to (the) British as 'classy'" or something I'm finding it really hard to read that sentence
... Yes. I kinda doubt English would be considered as my first language even though I live in the United Kingdom.
