Hey guys, I need some recommendations. Some time ago I've posted about my problem with the bottom borders in my theme: Notice how the right border seems to be protruding downwards. Well, I've gotten no help and I helplessly tried to fix it myself. Now I'm considering on using other themes. I've scourged xfce-look.org for some good looking themes, but none matched the style of my current, broken theme (ACID). So, I want a new theme. I'd like one in the style of ACID: simplistic, sharp edges, grey/dark grey look with some hints of either green or blue. Rounded edges make me go insane; they look ugly in my opinion. So, can you, my good friends, provide me with some links/names to some themes based on the criteria above?

Yes, I have - I even mentioned it in the 3rd line of my post.
Install infinality patches to freetype2. if you're using arch they should be in the AUR. from that it's just configure it as you like, just note that you need to install the microsoft fonts for it to work properly
Thank you so much! The fonts look amazing now, much better than in Windows.
So while steam is runnig, my normal cursor likes point to the right at about 20 degrees, instead of the normal 45 degree angle to the left.... I tried taking a apicture but scrot didnt catch the cursor.
Even I managed to create a window with Xlib that worked correctly, I wonder what Valve is doing there.
Valve uses Xlib instead of XCB??
I get the strange cursor as well, but any other window I focus on swaps it back instantly.
Valve uses Xlib instead of XCB??
I have no idea, but they could have done better.

Did any other archer with AMD gpu had a lot of problem running the steam beta ? I had to use the driver from Vi0L0 repository to get something stable.
Latest Wine 1.5 versions are great. They fixed a lot of performance and they finally got rid of the grey background in tray icons, a thing i've been wanting forever.

I am using Kdenlive on my Lubuntu 12.04 system, and when I try to render it to H264 it says that there's an unsupported thing, libx264 or something. Does anyone know a fix for this?
The update that made it a symlink wouldn't install so I went on to move the stuff over to /usr/lib and make /lib a symlink, but I only realized that ln doesn't work without /lib after I deleted it.
RTFM
Even I managed to create a window with Xlib that worked correctly, I wonder what Valve is doing there.
You've made an OpenGL context with Xlib. You've done NOTHING compared to what Valve has. [editline]16th November 2012[/editline] that's good right
Serious Sam 3 for Linux got updated on Steam so you can now play it. Performance seems worse than the windows version for me though.
Steam is now in the community repos for arch!
Steam is now in the community repos for arch!
They took it out now, though. Seems that they didn't want to face legal issues despite being approved by two Valve employees.

Oh lordy, KDE's already got a fullscreen launcher.
Oh lordy, KDE's already got a fullscreen launcher.
Doesen't look too bad, but I'm not a fan of KDE.
So, elementaryOS Luna beta 1 got released today, and I installed it. All I can really say is, wow, it's fucking amazing. http://elementaryos.org/journal/luna-beta-1-released
Yeah. Most polished distro I've seen in forever, UX wise. And Gala is so SMOOTH.
Really? Downloading it now, will burn to a USB (if possible with unetbootin) and test it on my desktop and netbook, then report back.
How do you guy think of advertisements in future Linux software? Will more software have advertisements? I am thinking of Ubuntu that have that Amazon search thing or whatever it is.
I've seen a couple of random bugs in Elementary now, but damn, it's bloody fine, and it's the first proper beta.
My head hurts when thinking of having a TV ad. Maybe it will boost user base, but I don't know how they could make advertisement. Tried elementary OS in my netbook, and it has such a good design, and good everything. It's just plain goodness!
What distro is elementary based on?
What distro is elementary based on?
I'm not completely sure, but I think Ubuntu by the looks of the installer.
Oh lordy, KDE's already got a fullscreen launcher.
That better not be default in future versions.
What distro is elementary based on?
Ubuntu 12.04
