Arch looks a bit difficult for me considering I'm a beginner to Linux :p
Cinnarch.
Change it in the browser preferences.
No option anywhere in the browsers :/ I should be a bit clearer; it doesn't work anywhere, guessing middle click has a different function. Doesn't seem to be an option for it in Preferences/Mouse and Touchpad, either.
No option anywhere in the browsers :/ I should be a bit clearer; it doesn't work anywhere, guessing middle click has a different function.
In Firefox, Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing > Use Autoscrolling
What do you mean by that? [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] Change it in the browser preferences.
I have seen some users have in the upper panel some 'text shorcuts', like shorcuts to a web page, an application, the terminal, etcetera. It might be only in awesome.
In Firefox, Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing > Use Autoscrolling
That worked, thanks :D Now I know what the term is called, I can look for ways to enable it elsewhere. EDIT: And found an extension for it in Chrome
I have seen some users have in the upper panel some 'text shorcuts', like shorcuts to a web page, an application, the terminal, etcetera. It might be only in awesome.
Just sounds like some sort of Tint2 configuration to me.
-snip, should search more by myself before asking-
Cinnarch.
Downloading it, looks good. Wonder if it'll let me install it.
Downloading it, looks good. Wonder if it'll let me install it.
Why wouldn't it??
Once you get used to it, openbox is pretty awesome. I have a problem which i couldn't fix with other theme-changing tools. LXAppearance doesn't seem to save theme configs. I tried gtk-chtheme, but that doesn't allow you to change icons and such.
Why wouldn't it??
I'm sure something will go wrong :p What program would let me make it bootable from usb? I tried UNetbootin but that didn't work.
I'm sure something will go wrong :p What program would let me make it bootable from usb? I tried UNetbootin but that didn't work.
This should help: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/USB_Installation_Media
This should help: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/USB_Installation_Media
Will that be the same for Cinnarch then?
Will that be the same for Cinnarch then?
Should be, Cinnarch is based on Arch.
So it booted and then failed.
Waiting 30 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-label/CINNARCH_201211 ... ERROR: '/dev/disk/by-label/CNNARCH_201211' device did not show up after 30 seconds... Falling back to interactive prompt You can try to fix the problem manually, log out when you are finished sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
So its a fair assumption that Linux hates me? :p
Okay, I have found another 'thing' that bugs me. Tint2 doesn't have a volume control applet in the system tray, and I don't have a keyboard with media keys, so right now I can't change the volume. Any way to fix this?
So it booted and then failed. So its a fair assumption that Linux hates me? :p
You didn't label your USB drive "CINNARCH_201211" That's why it's failing. [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] Like the partition label thing, y'know. In windows, go to the properties of the drive and just type in the name. In *NIX... There was some tool, I can't remember.
I have seen some users have in the upper panel some 'text shorcuts', like shorcuts to a web page, an application, the terminal, etcetera. It might be only in awesome.
You mean this don't you. I think it may be possible somehow in tint2 but I really don't think it'd work the same.

Obviously doing something wrong but not sure what?
Just tried renaming it to that and its too long. Obviously doing something wrong but not sure what?
Maybe you copied it wrong, but the log states that the label is CNNARCH_201211 instead of CINNARCH_201211
Maybe you copied it wrong, but the log states that the label is CNNARCH_201211 instead of CINNARCH_201211
Still only manage to get up to 'CNNARCH_201'
Name it what ever you want, then in the boot menu press tab and change the label it looks for.
Name it what ever you want, then in the boot menu press tab and change the label it looks for.
That makes sense. I'll try that.
Name it what ever you want, then in the boot menu press tab and change the label it looks for.
Oh god damn you could do that gah (Wonder why they made the label so long, anyway)
*doesn't know how to change what label it looks* What command do I need for this? Can you tell I'm new to this?
Yes, that is exactly what I want. Would you mind giving me the name of that panel? Thanks, by the way.
Well, it's dwm so there isn't any "panel" so to speak. It's beastie's config which is located here. I've also been using i3 for the past couple of hours while I work and I must say, I love it. There is only one thing that annoys me though. Whenever I open a program e.g. firefox i3 decides to open it the whole way across both my screens and that's obviously not what I want. Is there any way to change this?
Boot from the USB drive, then when it shows the menu press tab(or sometimes e). It should show you a long string of text, find where it say "LABEL=CNNARCH_201211" and change it to what you named it.
