Not me - only because I told the truth and said I was using Intel graphics.

So am I, and i'm in.

I'm using a gentoo based system running open source drivers on an ATi card, and I got in. Don't worry, you'll get in, but it's not much different than using the workaround.
Guys, do you think kinect will work in GMod using Linux? I'm highly sure it won't.

It can work on Linux.

Not with the code garry is using though. He's using the Microsoft Kinect SDK for Windows.

I know, but it's not impossible to get it working.

Of course not! And Garry would've possibly chosen the open kinect code too, if it didn't require user interaction and installation of the open drivers too.
so I enabled the "doc" USE flag globally yesterday
apparently i need to rebuild half my system now

More like the entirety. Why would you EVER enable that globally anyway?
More like the entirety. Why would you EVER enable that globally anyway?
because flipping it on per package was a pain in the ass

Documentation is almost always handy to have.

My system taking up about 10GB without it is enough as it is. Documentation probably ends up taking up more space than the rest :v:

I'm not disagreeing with you, it's just a lot to take in is all.
i have a 1,500 GB hard drive
bring it on, documentation

We live in the age of terabyte HDDs.
Even relatively cheap SSDs could very well hold all of your system plus the documentation (which is gzip'd, anyway, and text compresses quite well) and still have lods of free space.

I'm not disagreeing with you either I just mean sheesh 10GB doesn't cost ten dollars.

I have like ~300GB on my linux drive, and about 66GB of that is a shared NTFS drive :v: Also found out a few days ago that my desktop computer is now too old to be upgraded, and it's going to be cheaper to build a new one. 6 years running, but she's still shining in my eyes.
Good luck on the documentation though!
In fact, depending on what you buy it could be around a dollar.

:ninja:
honestly i'd rather just have the new global use flag only apply when the package is actually getting upgraded
but it's too late for that one, THANKS PORTAGE. jerk.
symlinked the linux SteamApps to my wine steamapps
I don't think that'll make Steam too happy if you switch back around to wine, since the gcfs are different for each platform...
Linux and Windows files are in GCFs with completely different names, and for textures and models platform doesn't matter at all.

It'll just re-download everything, though.
How can I make Virtualbox go in to seamless mode on my secondary monitor instead of primary?
It'd be really nice to not have to fullscreen and lose some workspace.
From what I get, the gcfs containing game assets (textures, models, etc.) are pretty much cross platform and the binaries for the platform are in platform specific gcfs. There's a linux gcf a mac one and a windows one.

move the VM window to the secondary monitor before telling it to go seamless?
i'm just guessing
move the VM window to the secondary monitor before telling it to go seamless?

It was 'almost' as simple as that
I had to fullscreen, move to the second monitor then go in to seamless
otherwise it would just move to the primary

Well, I have a 80 GB hard drive, Arch Linux itself took almost all of its 25 GB partition. The system went fine, had everything I needed, even the 32 bit libs for WINE.

That's strange, I have the same thing except I'm running on a 8gb thumbdrive-- And I still have 4-5GB left over.
I'm really curious why there's such a big difference in size. I'd like to compare package lists.
I've only got a 15G / partition and 690 packages take up only 5.7G of it.

Also, anyone have a good substitute for MS OneNote under Linux? There are quite a few nice note taking applications (I just installed zim and it serves its purpose very well) but OneNote is a much more extensive package. I've never used it myself, but many people rely on it to the point where moving to linux is an impossibility.
Evernote?
I know it's not as feature-filled as OneNote but still

It might be a suitable replacement, but I was hoping there was somehting almost clone-like that could replace it.
