How's Sabayon's multiarch support?

It's alright. Works for Steam.

How much fucking around do I need to do to get it working right? :v:

Not much, if you do it right, and install all the dependencies :v:
Ahhhh, AwesomeWM.
I missed it. The speed, oh yes, the speed.

I still don't understand the obsession with awesome. I've tried it and just..I dunno.
Minimalistic, fast, customisable trough Lua, and generally awesome.

- It's not Haskell, unlike XMonad
- Configuration is in Lua, which is the first programming language I ever learned.
- The idea of tiling windows can be very useful if applied correctly
- fast
- Awesome-revelation: View all windows at once and select one.
Haha, I made a commit and a pull request EXACTLY one year ago:
https://github.com/bioe007/awesome-revelation/commit/e8f6064bd2dc027e121dd6601ca755d0ee3eb697
It added middle-mouse window closing, which is the most useful thing ever. If you have a bunch of windows open, you can tile them and close many of them in a very short time.

I would constantly close windows accidentaly. I prefer $mod+shift+q to close windows in i3-wm, it's harder to do on accident. I suppose if you are using a mouse though your solution is pretty slick :v:
I guess I just can't find much use for a tiling WM personally, and I really don't feel like (re)learning Lua to configure my WM.
Meh, each to their own! I just installed Sabayon and I'm getting most of what I want installed now...

You don't really need a big knowledge about Lua, to get something decent.
Even the standard awesome config is good and useful.
Although less extensible, i3 has a much simpler config syntax. I personally haven't found anything which I was unable to change to my liking, but if your awesome config has its own git repo then i3 might be a bit lacking...
To close a window with my mouse, I have to hold my Mod key. When in revelation , it will close windows immediately. Revelation mode is opened with Ctrl+Mod+Tab in my configuration.
Is it bad that I always detach my storage HDD's before doing anything bootloader-related? v:v:v
I'm too scared!
I'm Doing it guys! I'm about to commit, and wipe windows off my machine.
Wish me luck, and if all goes well, I'll be back in an hour or so with a windows-free environment. I'll miss you planeside 2!

i want to say Planetside 2 has a Linux client
i might be stupid though
Well that took a *tad* longer then I expected. I accidently fucked up my partition table and a whole mess of shit formed from that, but thankfully, I got it all fixed and am finally running a fresh and shiny copy of arch+awesome.
I still have a few problems i need to sort, including strange font rendering issues, but other then that i'm happy.
I feel like testing out Linux properly this time, any suggestions? I'm expecting to try out stuff like Steam and I heard it also works in Linux Mint. Should I just stick with Ubuntu?
(Also customize it to work sort of like Mac, but still keep the black colors. Just tried Cairo-Dock + Ubuntu in a virtual machine, still seemed a bit hackish...)

It doesn't (not yet anyway)

Steam should work fine on Mint, there's an issue with steam on stable Debian which *might* affect Mint, but I'd check up on that.
But which Distro?

They're making a Mac client, that's all
Steam works fine in Mint. I'm sure you can get it working in Debian too.
Go with whatever you like.
But I don't know what I like :S
Ubuntu sounds like the easiest (with software packages etc.)
But Unity seems to have messed it a bit up. And as mentioned, a distro that can be made to have the whole Mac OS X feel... (Because yes, I have a MacBook besides my desktop)

Yeah If you go with Kubuntu/Ubuntu/Mint it should work out of the box.
Linux cries and fails to boot when I put it on the raid array, Windows 7 flat out doesn't recognize it,no matter how many times I wave the drivers at it. I'm thinking some bloke in Jmicron Technology pissed over whatever batch of controllers was integrated into the motherboard brand I use :/
The BIOS menu for the raid controller has a light seasoning of Engrish, too.

At this point, i'll probably cave, buy an SSD and use software raid for the drives instead.

Works perfectly well without much dicking around; any problems you do encounter, solutions for Ubuntu will work for it as well (so a greater pool of tech support to draw from)

By the lady who named the program Gifsicle
I feel kinda silly asking about this here (I have googled around though), but I can't get the feed-the-beast launcher for minecraft to work. The normal one works, but this one just turn on blank when i start it (I can still push the invisible buttons though). I've tried both the open source and proprietary versions of java 7 and the proprietary version of java 6. Can one of you folks point me in the right direction?

Edit: I'm pretty sure I just forgot to install something somewhere along the line....
It's probably not related to Linux.
I only play one video game because I have mates that play it. League of Legends.
I would have spent 5 hours trying to get it working on arch. No luck :(

That feel. I don't think there is any hope of it running under linux...
No its been done according to winehq.

Even on arch. Has issues with 64 bit, I'm trying a 32b chroot but no luck so far.
