Doesn't appear as though Arch has the new version up yet, but I hope it is before my next lab is due next thursday; I'll just use my old method and swap it out if the repos update in time.
Why are you replying to me though? I'm using Sabayon.

You didn't specify, so I just responded with the status of my own distro... I didn't mean to imply you were using Arch, but only confer with you that the update is too new to be in most repos as of yet.

My previous post should probably had an 'either' in it somewhere, come to think of it.
Steam's been moved from the AUR to the community and multilib repositories

Gentoo still has it in its own overlay :v:

I'm not familiar with Gentoo - could you explain what do you mean with "in its own overlay"? Are you referring to the Steam Overlay function? Or something Gentoo specific?
Well in Gentoo, there's the main Portage tree, and then there's overlays. Most overlays are for big categories of stuff (the proaudio overlay for instance has a bunch of professional audio stuff in it like mixer software etc).

Oh, I understand now - basically, they're a sort of extra repositories.

Well, Arch only has core/extra/multilib/community and the testing repos. AUR kind of fills in for the rest.
Man, Insync is a pretty handy G.Drive application, I'm actually using Drive a lot more now because it's pretty well integrated.
Does anyone here have any issues with Steam and anything using a mutter-based WM? (Gnome 3, Cinnamon)
It seems to drag the whole desktop environment to a crawl when steam's running.
I use Openbox/Awesome-WM for games, and graphical applications.
Dunno if it's been posted, but Steam has a sale on Linux games and you get Tux in TF2 if you logon from a linux computer (I think you have to open the game as well though)

How long is the sale? Weekend over?

Xubuntu.

Beginner: Linux Mint
Can think for yourself / Advanced: Sabayon
I tried Sabayon, for some reason I just couldn't figure it out. The package management was incredibly alien to me.
Would it be possible to install a Linux distribution along Windows 7 even if it's already installed?
I'm probably about to go distro-hopping again so maybe I'll give it another go

Yes. Ubuntu and Mint will handle this for you, simply giving you an option to install alongside windows and partitioning your drive accordingly.

yes, that's actually easier than vice versa
Just install alongside Windows 7 in a new partition, Ubuntu can do this in an automated fashion at install
Yeah, you get presented with an option like this (in Ubuntu, it probably looks different in Mint):

Well, I already have 7 installed and I don't have partitions for Linux setup

That's what the option is for, It will create space for Ubuntu alongside the existing Windows 7.
Is it using Wubi?
