I seriously doubt they're banning Linux users. I've played D3 on Linux, as well as WoW, and I know lots of people do Starcraft II in wine.
All this Linux gaming chat is making me want to play some good old Sacred: Gold. Good, gooooood times.. Fuck this, I'll search for my ye olde Sacred: Gold retail disk and try to get it to work.
Fuck Diablo 3 and play Quake.
I just can't understand it. It seems like a lot of you guys are having a great time with gaming on Linux. Is it all trough WINE or what? Because the only stuff for gaming I have is the humble bundles. Although steam for Linux is on it's way (which will be wicked) it seems so weird having games that is installed through a other program. It is ruining my OCD.
I play games using wine. Using a mix of WineHQ and Play on Linux, quite a few games can work quite well with a few registry tweaks and stuff.

I've got my friends hooked on Warsow, we can play race maps for hours trying to beat each others times :v:

Reposting serious problem. My panel stops working for time to time. When I minimize a window I can't maximise, and the applications menu won't open. However opening a folder or shifting workspace a couple of times fixes it for like 5 minutes. Really nagging me, any assistance?
sheesh spent all day trying to get Arch installed on my new Asus UX31 with naelstrof, can't get wireless working. no matter what, whenever i do "ip link set wlan0 up", i get "Cannot assign requested address". the Arch Wiki says that my laptop should work perfectly right out of the box, and it seems that the linux kernel i'm running supports the device, so i can't figure out what's going on

Make sure that it is setup correctly. If you used a static IP, make sure that it did not get fat fingered. If you are using DHCP, make sure it is setup for it and did not get flipped back to static.

I've had some good experience with that. Unless you're running in a graphical environment. In which case you should just install wicd-gtk.

To compile the module we needed to get linux-headers which was not the same version, and we tried to get wicd installed by moving the packages through usb storage; just to find out it required the rest of arch to be updated. It ended up being a massive strugglefest so we gave up and moved on to linux mint, which properly supported his wireless and ethernet.
-snip- [editline]27th June 2012[/editline]
Alright so I installed Gentoo, now what FTP server should I be using?
Install open-sshd and hit two birds with one stone - nothing wrong with forcing yourself to use SCP anyway.
You'd be amazed how much data that's precious to you that can't be recreated, can be stored in the failed 1.5G part of your 1TB drive. ... I'm tempted to believe I've lost some inodes.
Then check to see if you can recover it.
So, anybody who knows a guide on how to port your Opera 12 configuration from Windows to Linux? Opera's own sync function is half assed in that regard, and it isn't as easy as just copying your files over. Oh, and does anybody know if it's possible to access hard-drives set-up in RAID arrays with Intel Matrix Raid?? Al that I've been able to find are posts saying you can, but not HOW.

Because that's what I use to keep the configuration, same as with Firefox and Chromium.
You have problems with their sync function? Because that's what I use to keep the configuration, same as with Firefox and Chromium.
Doesn't sync my extensions and their configurations. The part which I (ironically) spended most time on getting JUST RIGHT.
Probably in /usr/share/pixmaps, /usr/share/icons/<icon theme name>, or somewhere around that area. You can generate a list of files a package installed with pacman -Ql dropbox
I tried all of the images it installed. One looked like the right one, but editing it had no effect. I'm afraid it may be part of the executable or something.
So I'm a heavy CLI user, but I'm also a bit of a photographer, so I have countless scripts to help me deal with boring tasks. But I just found an awesome thing to solve the problem of of running scripts that I want to be in a terminal from Thunar's custom actions. So right now I have this:
#!/bin/sh CMD="tmux -2 new-session -d 'vim'\; new-window -d\; new-window -d\;\ bind-key Q kill-session\; attach" if [[ "$2" == "term" ]]; then terminal --working-directory $1 --geometry 85x52 -e "$CMD" else eval $CMD fi
Basically I make Thunar run "/home/jookia/Scripts/ide.sh %d term" to open up a tmux session in a terminal (I also can call the script from a terminal without the "term" argument if I'm on SSH or a netbook. But I just found a kind of universal way to do the code for that:
#!/bin/sh if [[ "$2" == "term" ]]; then terminal --working-directory $1 --geometry 85x52 -e $0 exit fi tmux -2 new-session -d 'vim'\; new-window -d\; new-window -d\; bind-key Q \ kill-session\; attach
Recursion!
How good is GLC? Because I feel like every program (application) for Linux is always a bit "behind" and not that useful. Of course I have found several applications that are excellent! But I just want to be sure.

My opinion is that it works fantastic; it's a little weird to use, but I found it more flexible and useful than fraps.
grrrr got an old IBM x226 server that I'm trying to put CentOS on, but it's refusing to boot the livecd. Going to try the livedvd now, with any luck it will work. [editline]29th June 2012[/editline] oh derp I was burning to a DVD and it doesn't have a DVD drive. Burning to a CD now, it should work. [editline]29th June 2012[/editline] wow it's from 2006 and has 3GB ram and 1.4 TB of combined hard drive space. (only 800GB in my RAID setup though)
Dammit, back again guys. So I did:
sleep 5 && conky
for boot. But it still won't show, and i am too lazy to make an .sh file. Help?
i am too lazy to make an .sh file.
And why are you using Linux then?
And why are you using Linux then?
Let me refine that. I am too lazy = means in my world: I need to someone to hold my hand trough it. Because I suck.
Let me refine that. I am too lazy = means in my world: I need to someone to hold my hand trough it. Because I suck.
You're never gonna learn new things with that attitude.
