It didn't work with the installation of lib32-libldap, but with the help of Ol' Pie, I got CS:S running. GMod 13 Beta doesn't run with that configuration, though.
I'll see what I can do. Thank you!
Aaaaand I just lost my wired connection and I couldn't fix my wireless card in time.
I do have some new info about my little issue: It began after I updated compat-wireless to 2012-07-03, lshw reports that my 4965AGN is *-network UNCLAIMED.
I will be in trouble if I can't access the Internet in 5 days, please help me with my problem.

I forgot to restart after reinstalling it, I'm dumb.
Do you guys have any idea how to get Mesa-git working with Gentoo Portage? I'd rather not manually install it and risk dumb files laying around.

# Install layman if you haven't already
emerge -av layman
echo "source /var/lib/layman/make.conf" >> /etc/make.conf
# Pull the x11 overlay
layman -a x11
# Unmask the live ebuild for mesa and emerge it
echo "media-libs/mesa" >> /etc/portage/package.unmask
echo "media-libs/mesa **" >> /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords
emerge -av mesa-9999
[editline]22nd August 2012[/editline]
Untested, and just a guess, because I prefer stable mesa myself

Does it automatically detect updates, even for 9999 versions?
I don't think so, but there's a @live-rebuild set in Portage 2.2 that'd automatically update all the live ebuilds you install.
So, yeah, last MVM update broke my tf2 in linux.
All my achieved work is now nothing.
why

That feel. I gave up on wine, its more trouble than it's worth. Just forget about tf2 for a while and if steam gets around to it you can be pleasantly surprised :v:
did the linux sub forum get deleted or am i just blind?
Not sure how you're having so much trouble with TF2, the only issue I'm having is that I can only use an Intel GPU.

Is there an RDP addon I can get for connecting to linux clients? I know about VNC but RDP works better.
Use SSH, it was designed for the job.
Oooooh Windows is failing on me :v:
I can never understand why Linux can be so awesome and free at the same time.

Windows is made by a company for people's money.
Linux is made by people for the people.
Ubuntu 12.04.1 released.
Gotta check ubuntu out again.

Oh okay
I just remembered about /etc/motd

Pro tip of the day: While trying to fix pacman on a VPS you have no physical file access to, don't rename /lib unless you want EVERYTHING to break.
Now I'm fucked until Hexxeh wakes back up, fffff
Wait, you did that as well?
:v:
(Why didn't you just chroot or something if you wanted to do it that way)
[editline]25th August 2012[/editline]
Seriously though, the fix for this was on Archwiki, I think, and it wasn't too difficult

I was in the process of doing all this bullshit and it was refusing to update with conflict errors even though the only thing in /lib was glibc, so I thought it would be a good idea to get rid of lib altogether. DERP.
welp
just accidently moved half of /etc into my home folder
this is going to be fun to fix if possible
[editline]25th August 2012[/editline]
oh wait /bin boot and dev is gone too

your computer is going to kill himself.
go talk with him about it, and try to stop it before its too late.
I just remembered about /etc/motd
I had an idea
every 30 minutes or so, a cron script takes a random file from /etc/motd.d and copies it to /etc/motd
This isn't a box that's going to be accessible to the public so I feel I can get away with that.

the computer is ~300 miles away so I won't be able to fix this for months

I wasn't paying attention to what I was typing.
Just installed the mainline Linux Kernel 3.6RC3 from AUR.
Let's see if it is gonna work.
It didn't.

Why not just download it from kernel.org and compile it yourself?
Why not just download it from kernel.org and compile it yourself?
Because I am a giant lazy faggot who couldn't even write "sudo" without looking it up in the linux manual :v:
Because it makes sense to build it as a pacman package. Less things break.
I have never compiled a kernel from kernel.org myself :/
Currently im fucking around with dwm and its config.h
