Xresources never worked for me, I use Xdefaults... what's the difference?
I have never compiled a kernel from kernel.org myself :/
Currently im fucking around with dwm and its config.h
I implore you to try i3-wm if you havn't yet. It is influenced by dwm and retains all of the positive attributes while streamlining configuration and providing a lot of functionality lacking in dwm.

Arch said that defaults is not longer supported, but the thing is when i run $ xrdb .Xresources it updates my X system and my terminal colors gets set.

I always create a symlink from .Xdefaults to .Xresources, just in case.

That's probably what you should do as well.
TF2 works again at 60-120 FPS with low settings

I am still amazed by the backwards compatibility of TF2.
My 6600GS could run it.
I was messing around with Linux Mint and it is really cool, I might install it as a second os
I couldn't figure out how to add shortcuts to the taskbar (Near the start button, it has Dolphin and Chrome icons by default) and how to uninstall applications without manually searching for them in synaptic or using the command line. I am using KDE. Can anyone help me with this?

I still can't even get Steam to work with wine. No text anywhere, and I've built it with support for truetype and used winetricks to install allfonts. Congratulations though!

Go to winecfg, libraries, and disable dwrite.

How does Virtualbox compare to Wine or Playonlinux?
How does Virtualbox compare to Wine or Playonlinux?
Really, you can't compare. Performance-wise, either, cause it depends on a lot of factors such as your graphics drivers.
[editline]28th August 2012[/editline]
And PlayOnLinux is Wine-based anyway
I just don't know what makes my computer be able to play tf2 nicely. Trust me i'd tell you guys if i did know.
Wine on my pc plays Oblivion beautifully without glitches, apart from music issues.
Hell, even Skyrim works, even if it's painfully slow.
Oh, and it's an Athlon 64 3200+ with a 4670 AGP.

Holy shit it fucking worked!
Thanks a lot, I've been unable to use this shit for more than a week now and had to reboot!
Thanks man!

Same. Even if both of those games run like shit on both platforms, they.. Run on both platforms.

The thing that really surprised me is that it runs really smoothly, and even the mods like the script extender works. I had to disable the music and the videos, but everything else is fine.
The only issue i had was purple rain and skies, but it was due to two textures folder (goddamn capitalization).

I know i'll get lots of boxes for this comment, but I just can hear the windows fanboys burning, and they seem to been burning since the first valve linux blogpost.

Why, exactly?

Which UI mod is that? Looks nice.
Which UI mod is that? Looks nice.
It's BTMod: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/1825
It's a guided installation that permits you to customize the entire interface, it's pretty nice.
The colored bars are an extra from Natural Environments.
Also, i tried Flatout 2 and Need for Speed Most Wanted. Flatout runs godly, everything works, from settings to multiplayer. NFS has a crashing issue when you apply the graphic settings, but apart from that it works greatly. I think PlayonLinux is not really useful, the Wine AppDB is more helpful and straightforward, and also you avoid potential bloat: http://appdb.winehq.org/
20 years from now or somewhat we will think how the fuck we couldn't survive without videogames in linux

No games is a bit harsh. There are a ton of games, but not a lot of mainstream ones.
Here, take a look: http://www.happypenguin.org/
Found my old 250GB ps3 hard drive I installed ubu onto ages ago and booted from it, holy shit why do I have to go into the damn properties of a .run file just to make it executable.

Because you're not using the terminal and chmod.
Because you're not using the terminal and chmod.
Takes longer to do it in terminal.
Takes longer to do it in terminal.
GUI: Right-click file, properties, select correct tab, click the checkbox, close properties.
Terminal: chmod +x first few letters of filename, press tab, enter
It's faster by a huge factor.

I still don't understand why every new file is non-executable to start with.
So they can't be downloaded and executed without you knowing
I still don't understand why every new file is non-executable to start with.
So little Billy doesn't download badfile.elf and then run it?
A new file that gets created is marked as non-executable because most of the times, they're not something that is meant to be executed.
It's not exactly a problem, pretty sure if you compile a program, the compiled program is marked executable, and if you download a pre-compiled binary in a .tar.gz, the executable flag is preserved when extracting.

For security reasons?
(ninja'ddd 2 times, here come the lates)
