The thing that really surprised me is that it runs really smoothly, and even the mods like the script extender works. I had to disable the music and the videos, but everything else is fine.
The only issue i had was purple rain and skies, but it was due to two textures folder (goddamn capitalization).

Solution (or workaround, depending on POV):

I know it's for Garrysmod server installation, but it's the concept that's relevant.
The "-O" flag in the JFS creating process makes it case insensitive, just like NTFS and FAT.
Personally I always make a JFS *.IMG file or partition for the WINE programs folder, better safe than sorry.

Because of his start menu.

It's really light and it isn't bloated at all. It has Chromium instead of Firefox, Audacious instead of Rythmbox and no Libreoffice out of the box. Also, Wine just loves that it doesn't use Compiz.

Also, like Ubuntu it's really easy to install. There's also a LXDE version of Mint, but it's hasn't been updated to Mint 13, so i suggest you to get Lubuntu instead.
I hate having Minecraft on my Linux, everytime i close it get's black screen and crashes.
But basically i am using oracle runtime 7, really strange. I asked on Ubuntu forums and they told me to use that. I installed via PPA from the webupd8 guide. (as told). still it "crashes".

I just run it with the OpenJDK + Icedtea, works fine.

Oh god it's awesome. Out of the box, no specific command lines, it just works.

When i close Minecraft it gives me black screen for 5 minutes and then crash report, that's why i tried the oracle one.

[del]Also what's up with League Of Legends not showing in PlayOnLinux?
All others haves it in there.[/del]

Use OpenJDK runtime 6, not the 7. It's joyful playing Minecraft faster in linux than in Windows.
I tried Mint and Ubuntu for University work.
I have to say I enjoy Mint much much more.

As someone said here, Linux Mint is now the thing Ubuntu was before, a easy distro.
It's just so comfortable.
Even something as small as that "open in terminal" in the file menu.
I love it.
I have just installed the official PSP font on my Linux Workstation. It's called Square 721 BT Roman.

Looks insanely good for me.
You need to get into contact with someone about default desktop themeing... That is by far the nicest linux desktop I have seen in a long time. The only thing I would change is the pidgin theme... the white burns my eyes a bit.
I want a TrueType version of that font. I want to see how it looks on my Android.
I found an OpenType version, but the one converter I could find that worked only renamed it from .otf to .ttf (which of course broke my font changer app)

Enjoi.
I wish schools would use linux, Not only you got low resource use but also better security, i think.
In Norway almost everyone uses windows servers etc.
And btw the laptop people get for school are getting shittier and shittier.

Here, in Andalusia, there is a Linux DIstro made by the governement to use in the schools and public centers. It's a Ubuntu remix with a lot of work-ish apps. Neat stuff.
Guadalinex, if someone wants to try it. Spanish page fellas, sorry.

There's also a school specific version, guadalinex-edu, but i don't reccomend using that one. It's still on 11.10 .

My Guake terminal in action. Fullscreen with DOS font 24 and Paktahn upgrading AUR packages.
Pretty generic, eh?

There is nothing, that can go wrong this time.
Thank you very much!
So my ubuntu replacement, lubuntu, just installed, went poof. Grub gone, no audio nor graphic card drivers, and stuff.
Nice start buddy.

For some reason it actually seems a bit laggier for me?
Can it be my Unity ruining it? Yes it's ugly and all but I.. Well i don't know.

Um, might be. Unity uses compiz which uses more resources, but if you used unity running minecraft but with OpenJDK 7 and faster, it's not unity's fault.
BTW, If i use OpenJDK 7 with my minecraft, it doesn't reach the menu screen :v:
Came into possession of an old gateway desktop. Pentium 133Mhz, 32Mb RAM, BIOS circa 92' (which doesn't support ISOLINUX) and an almost fresh install of windows 95. Burned a Damn Small Linux iso, played around a bit, frugal install and it is running pretty fast. No network card (just a dial up modem...) but it runs far better than my expectations. I tried to run Puppy linux, but alas the only ISO's they have up use ISOLINUX... I'm downloading a delicate linux ISO to try that out as well. Why is this so fun :v:
