Prepare for an flood of people who have never used Linux when people start receiving Raspberries.
Does someone know how to install StarOffice through Terminal?
StarOffice hasn't existed for like a couple of years, it became OpenOffice which then became LibreOffice.

It's a bit more complicated than that, but basically, yeah.
I just think that Libre is to simple, i really don't like it.
Also, when i use Unetbootin to get linux mint 12 KDE 64 bit to my USB it freezes at 92% aka 175 files?
Any help?

Just install MS Office through WINE. It works almost perfectly IIRC.
I like Abiword.
I like Abiword.
Abiword is great in Linux. But it's still an unstable piece of shit for Windows. Plus the Windows version has no PDF export.
Could someone assist me through install of KDE Mint 12?
It freezes, i am doing it over a USB.

Who found this funny?
Anyone have any ideas why when using SFML( a C++ library) on Lubuntu im getting like 135ms to render a frame, yet when I was using Ubuntu it would cap at 16ms
All that has changed (I think) is the desktop manager
Linux noob here. Only used Ubuntu. Wanting to get into Arch.
I want it to look like this for extra nerd points. I understand Arch Linux doesn't have a window manager by default? How would I go about setting it up like this:

That looks like awesome wm with some fancy configuration. See if you can get the rc.lua file from where you got the picture.
What Distro would be good for a notebook PC?
Always wondered.

I've used Arch on my old Toshiba Satellite, my old Asus 1201n, my CR48, and on my current Acer Aspire 0722. Still the best you can do, imo.

Seriously, i've been stuck here for hours now. It just freezes? I have a 4GB usb drive, and there is over 2GB left, but it just stays there at 92% aka 175 files?
[editline]jkhaskjd[/editline]
Again sorry, right after i posted this it fixed itself.
I removed the image so it wouldn't take the page longer to load.

It's alright, although I'd prefer providing my own SSH server instead of using something like this.

I'm pretty sure that is awesome window manager.

that is awesome but dwm is better so do that instead

Lockdown? It has a lot of features.
The only thing i can't find is virtual desktops, i am quite used to it in Ubuntu so i am a bit dissapointed.

Oh and if somebody is used to KDE it would be great if you could give me some tips for making it look good.
I love when my desktop is sorted and smexy :v:
And i also just found out CTRL + F8.
Ubuntu 12.04 is looking to be pretty awesome.
that is awesome but dwm is better so do that instead
dwm is not "better". It's "better" in the same way that I think that i3 is "better".
This is the thing about Open Source software, it's all a matter of opinion. At least, for the most part.

Don't be hatin'.
It's general linux chat, i am allowed to ask questions. And it's better than starting a new thread.

opinions are great and all but I'm the only one allowed to have them

Is the beta safe to use at the minute on a proper computer, or is it best just to wait a little bit?

Beta - Not alpha, but it ain't release either.
TL;DR: Wait a month or however long it takes for them to release it.

The virtual desktop switcher thing is usually there by default. Maybe not in Kubuntu.
Anyway, just unlock widges, and open up the Configuration thing for your panel (Click the cashew on the panel), click Add Widget, and put a Pager on your panel.
You can also use the scroll wheel on the wallpaper to switch desktops.

In my experience Ubuntu has always been really buggy for the first couple weeks after release. But then again I stopped using it after 8.04 which I couldn't get to work on my pc at the time.
