WHAT.
The only step I have screwed up during the instalation was generating an fstab.
I was always typing in one ">" instead of two ">"'s.
Arch Linux, here I come again, after bricking you several times.

JEEZUZ, It finally works! <3
That was my point entirely, zone delegation is a process, not a term.
It's a term that describes a particular process which is zone delegation. You're right though, "zone delegation" wasn't meant to describe the subdomain, simply the process by which it is created.
I suppose I misread the intention of your post, it seemed very affirmative and not quite open to interpretation. Suppose we can get along now.
That said, I don't know if you're using bind, but http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ is decent for learning some DNS concepts. It uses bind for all of its examples, though.

I supposed I could blame that on a lack of sleep and not being a native speaker :3
That said, i'm not actually doing any networking at the moment, but I'm sure the book will come in handy some time. Thanks :v:

Oh wow, structured my post identical to yours >.>
Guys.
I just realized I was typing in wrong commands, or at least missed some of them.
I have missed typing in the GRUB config generation command (grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg)
I have never ever figured this out before. I was too lazy to check that again.
I am a complete linux noob and I deserve to die.

I can certainly understand why your fstab wouldn't work if you constantly kept replacing its contents with the latest line you output to it.

Woa woa, easy now! Making simple mistakes doesn't mean you deserve to die. That's a bit aggressive, don't you think?

I don't know what guide he's using because you shouldn't be using >> for the command that generates fstab since it generates the whole file at once and there's no need to append afterwards. You just redirect to /mnt/etc/fstab once and that's it.

Are you using regular GRUB or GRUB2?
GRUB2 now, comrade!
dammit i don't know that one
GRUB2 now, comrade!
Any reason for using GRUB over Syslinux?
I am using Ubuntu and trying to remove a few programs from the start-menu ish thing. But I can't use sudo apt-get autoremove or remove on their name.
The names of the programs are Mupen64, Minecraft, Skype.
Help, quick?
Do "dpkg-query -S <file>" to find out what package owns that file.
So for Skype you could do "dpkg-query -S /usr/bin/skype" to get the package name.
Says it's illegal or someshit.
For some reason some things in Cinnamon look like this

Any possible problems?
And steam under wine looks like this for some reason

Open winecfg, go to libraries and set dxwrite to disable.
Open winecfg, go to libraries and set dxwrite to disable.
I don't see dxwrite here :tinfoil:
I don't see dxwrite here :tinfoil:
Then put -no-dxwrite in all of your steam shortcuts
I don't see dxwrite here :tinfoil:
Enter it in the dropdown menu and add it, then set it to disabled.
Deaugh, I fixed steam but this bug is still really annoying

It only shows up like that in Nautilus and Cinnamon settings for some reason.
The text should be black and the tab things shouldn't have a solid colour background. Oddly enough changing icon theme temporarily fixes the text and then it resets when I open it again
Ugh!
Trying to install ubuntu on my harddrive. Got it working, but when I try to launch it from the hard-drive the only thing it does is starting in some trial-ish mode.
Any ways to install Ubuntu on a hard-drive and make it so when you plug it into a computer and change the computer's boot settings you could launch Ubuntu as if it was installed on the computer all along?

What do you mean "trial-ish mode"?

Did you eject the livecd before rebooting..?
Each time I restart the computer all changes I've done reset, and there are icons in the taskbar or whatever it's called and on the desktop asking if I want to install Ubuntu.

Also no. I used some program called Universal USB installer and an iso. Couldn't find a good guide for it.
Did you pull out the flash drive? Or did you install the live install to the hard-drive somehow? :v:
unetbootin is the best tool for making linux installers on windows
unetbootin is the best tool for making linux installers on windows
I've had pretty bad success rate with it lately, I usually just use dd now
Did you pull out the flash drive? Or did you install the live install to the hard-drive somehow? :v:
Probably the latter. Any idea how I make it so it's like a normal install but on an external harddrive?

Um..just load a live CD and install to the hard-drive.
'Least, that's how I've been able to do it. You may need to install the boot loader seperately.
No idea how I load the Live CD. Tried to use PowerISO, that didn't work out. Also I don't have any discs..
