fuck the interface, insert bits with your mind

Better yet, use COSMIC RAYS to flip your bits for you!
DDR3 abbreviates Double Data Rate 3, it's not a tangible object. It's just as bad as calling a flashdrive "USB"
And again and again it's still a USB because for most that's the primary use of the USB port.
Doesn't really matter as long as it's understandable.

What the fuck is up in your head? Just because it's a primary use of an item doesn't mean thats the name, The most played game on my Xbox is halo reach, Does that mean I can call my Xbox 360 a halo reach? That logic is fucking dumb.

Your logic makes no sense.
No, but you can call an Xbox 360 a console considering its' main use is to play console games.

Uh.. a Xbox 360 IS a console.
A flash drive is not "a USB".
A RAM module is not "a DDR3".
Your example is completely irrelevant.
I know, USB is an interface. I would never call a flash drive a USB. I'm not that stupid.

Completely missed my point.

I never said that, and why are you getting so upset over a post, especially one that you clearly misread?
I'm saying that anyone who doesn't give a fuck is going to call it a USB because that's is main function to them and they don't need to know more. Your analogy with the xbox is a terrible one.

and you missed mine

poor wording on my part though

I understood what you meant, but your logic was wrong.
Does anyone else really hate it when people pronounce GUI as "Gooey?"
i hate it when people pronounce gif as 'jiff', even though technically yes that is the correct pronunciation. but god it sounds dumb.
Does anyone else really hate it when people pronounce GUI as "Gooey?"
Not really because I'm not a smart ass nerd like yourself.
Make sure all the phones have DSL filters. If the house is older or has really bad wiring, there will be interference on the line causing horrible latency and slow speeds.
Unless the home is really old, it will likely have a demarcation box (Should be a grey plastic box on the outside of the home with the telephone company's logo on it).
Looks like this:

On the inside of the "Customer" side (Usually opened with a standard screwdriver), you'll see something like this:
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ruCSd.jpg[/img_thumb]
There should be a phone cable or some sort of plug connected to a jack inside the box, which connects to all the jacks inside the house. If you disconnect that cable and then plug your DSL modem directly into the box, the house's wiring is completely bypassed. If your speeds are faster, then the problem lies with the wiring in the home or you need to buy some DSL filters for your phones.
Thank you I'll talk to my dad about get filters when i move in
He would never allow me to open that up...
I'll soon enjoy my unthrottled 100Mb/s for approx 45$ a month.
I've got a shared 100/100Mbit for free with my apartment, unthrottled. Hits ~7MB/s
Also neighbours laptop died, so I lent her my PC (Swapped in a 150GB hard drive for her first though)
LAN today at school, got no computer to bring :saddowns:

Reminded me of this:

I knew what video that was before I even opened. It's just that bad. Every single time GUI is mentioned, that piece of shit pops up.

By that logic it should be called a gamer which would cause you all to break my skull. Especially when I'm posting this late about it.
i hate it when people pronounce gif as 'jiff', even though technically yes that is the correct pronunciation. but god it sounds dumb.
Which is the WRONG pronunciation anywhere else in the world. To the majority of the world the G is pronounced as a soft K just as you say you always do. Gif is the correct pronunciation and I'm fucking late again.
The correct pronunciation of GUI in my country is "Goui" (read the Oui in the french manner which equals "ui"). I think it is the pronunciation in most of Europe actually.
I'll just go in the corner and stop bringing up previously resolved issues...
You know what the beauty is of being called upon to fix simple computer issues such as adding a shortcut to a person's desktop? Sometimes, that person pays you way more than you deserve. My aunt paid me twenty bucks to set up a new laptop she got with an administrator account and an account with child locks.
I got payed $50 to install windows.
I got payed $50 to install windows.
I got $150 to install a Japanese version of Vista, make an excel document, and move a PC to another room.
I only got paid $25 to format a PC.
I got paid $30 to plug in some headphones, and another $20 to install office 2007.
I got paid $100 to build a $1000 computer.
I've never gotten any money for doing computer stuff for people :saddowns:
Should've said it didn't work and that you might aswell give the parts to me.
Think of it this way: if I said my laptop operates at 4.12 gHz, because it has two cores at 2.06 gHz, I would be making myself content for this thread. However, if I said it operates at 4.12 giga-operations/second, I would be correct*.
* I know there's some difference between clock speed and operations/second, but that's just getting semantic.
Wouldn't it be correct to say something like 4.12 gigaclockcyclecores/second (1 gigaclockcyclecore (1000000000 * clockcycle * core) can be for example 1000000000 clock cycles on 1 core, or 1 clock cycle on 1000000000 cores) :v:
