I was thinking earlier, wouldn't it be awesome if you were Jewish with a computer literate parent and you got a PC part per day, starting with the case, followed by motherboard, cpu, ram, gpu, psu, hard drive, dvd drive. 7 parts, it's perfect!
Isn't that 8 parts?
:( I can't count. Well, you could give the HDD and DVD drive on the same day.
regarding the whole mac vs pc shitfest about games to me it seems like microsoft wins either way. If the person buys a Windows PC and games on it, microsoft gets paid. if the person buys a mac, he has about a 1 in 2 chance of buying an exbawks for hardcore Call of black ops, modern bad duty games and microsoft gets paid even more for xbox live, game development fees, dlc and map packs, and of course the xbox itself. its quite funny really :p
Who needs disc drives these days, anyway?
Who needs disc drives these days, anyway?
well games still come on discs (if you dont use steam for w/e reason) so do windows install and recovery things. also pretty good for cheap storage instead of another hard drive

Highly interesting conversation.
"Let me stick my DVI/VGA/HDMI into your rear I/O." I dated that girl, that day, on the spot. Edit: Yeah she said it as a Joke, I was attracted by her literacy.
"Let me stick my DVI/VGA/HDMI into your rear I/O." I dated that girl, that day, on the spot.
wait, the girl said that? :ohdear:
wait, the girl said that? :ohdear:
I already have a pussy I don't need another one.
I already have a pussy I don't need another one.
Are you one of these alien creatures called "girls"?
wait, the girl said that? :ohdear:
She said Rear I/O, so that means, let me stick my strap-on into your anus.
Who needs disc drives these days, anyway?
Anyone who's got any idea what happens to your games WHEN your digital distributor turns the key. That's who. I honestly don't understand why anyone would go Fully digital. I always get the games i'm sure i don't wanna lose on a disc. It is very ironic that my steam list is a rape of games bought on steam sales.
I always get the games i'm sure i don't wanna lose on a disc.
Well, I'm pretty sure that if Steam for some reason shut down, they would still have their servers up for quite a while...But I see what you mean.
Are you one of these alien creatures called "girls"?
Nah, I just misread what he wrote, I thought MacTrekkie said "what did the girl say".
She said Rear I/O, so that means, let me stick my strap-on into your anus.
Sounds tempting.

Valve would release a update that stops the required connection to the Steam servers being needed anymore I would assume.
And i don't understand why you want useless discs lying around collecting dust.
Well they won't be... I actually buy my games to play them. Besides, I like having shit i buy around so i can look back at them and remember it. gaming is a culture... an artform to me. These are my comicbooks and i am the simpson nerd. They are not useless. But you have fun when EAStore, Direct2Drive, GamersGate, GoG and Steam all bite the dust within the next 15 years and you sit around with shitall left from an era of your life that you spent 10k bucks on. I don't understand why you want your investment to be a temporary glorified rent. [editline]13th December 2010[/editline]
Digital Distributors have a policy for that kind of scenario. I feel safe enough with steam for two major reasons. I could survive without the games that i do not buy on disk anyway and they promised to ensure me my property. Sounds like a deal there.
I don't think you got my point there (as usual for you). ALL distributors have a "doomsday" policy, they either release their DRM, hand out your CD Keys that you purchase or do both, and possibly keep downloads up for a few months. Valve is not exclusive to this, EA, D2D and GoG all need something like this to even run without encountering issues like a pissed off/ non-existent userbase.

Taking a swing at my comprehension abilities. especially when you proceed to refer to the same ("doomsday policies") anyway. they have uttered no word on it. At least not to the media or their discussion boards. Doomsday policies or no. I prefer to Buy rather than rent. I'd love to see anyone take away my copy of a game due to misconduct when it's on my shelf. (not that I pride myself on misconduct at all.)
I am like you, I prefer to have a physical copy of my games. But it isn't fear of the death of the distributor, I just have a shoddy internet connection :v: I can understand why you would be worried, but companies need them, even if they don't declare them.
