My school's librarian said Mozilla Firefox is a virus, which is making the internet slow. What she didn't know is that the library's internet runs on a 512kbps plan and serves 6 computer by LAN and maybe extra 10++ laptops by WiFi. And they set it like this:- Modem -> Some kind of a Router thing -> Switch -> The six 6 Computers and The same Modem -> Router -> WiFi router. I have no idea how did that actually worked. She once left the modem off and complained for 2 days about not getting internet connection. She had to call the goddamn technician to turn it on. She also stick a small piece of paper onto the monitor, on it written "No Facebook, Youtube or Games". Can't they block the websites instead? Also, it takes about 30 seconds to load Google on that goddamn line. :v: [editline]lul[/editline] Not illiterate but, my country's one and only ISP plans. [img_thumb]http://cubeupload.com/files/7c5139internet.png[/img_thumb] Miserable.
My heart stopped when I read the price of the 4Mbps line.
Where I live cheapest 3mbps down/1mbps up unlimited costs 36euro/month
$50 for my 10down/1up
try 1.5Mb down/ .45Mb up for roughly the same price. And the only other option is 1Mb down/.2Mb up satellite for almost the same price.
Two content bits: While my computer was broke i had to make do with the family computer. unfortunatley you need a password to install shit, and when i asked to install firefox, My dad said no because.. well i cant remember, but I explained its faster and said something like "No, i dont want to use it because <reason i forgot>." Also, when he suggested clearing my cookies and disk cleanup, he said "why are you using firefox?" Second part: Was talking to someone at school, and said i prefer PC. same old "PCS LAG AND HAV BAD GRAFIKS!!".
This has nothing to do with computer illiteracy, but I found it comical anyway.
"PCS LAG AND HAV BAD GRAFIKS!!"
When someone says that to me I just say: "Your computer lags and has bad graphics"

I just moved into an apartment and some idiot has their wireless SSID as "Ima fuck a white bitch" :colbert: What is with people. Dear God, can't you make it decent for the children at least?!

My dad's company are incredibly strict about what software can be installed on their machines. He is only allowed to use IE6 on his laptop. It doesn't even have tabs! Was a real pain when I was trying to show a comparison between a selection of computer parts.
What is illiterate about that? That is technically correct.
Isn't 1 Gigabyte 1024 MB And 1 TB 1024 GB?
Isn't 1 Gigabyte 1024 MB And 1 TB 1024 GB?
It's Gibibyte and tebibyte AFAIK
There's dispute on the subject. Mainly from hard drive manufacturers, teachers, and pedants. However, Real Nerds agree that, when speaking of computer-related topics, kilo = 2^10, mega = 2^20, giga = 2^30, and so on. This is how pretty much everyone in IT uses the terms, and how all operating systems report the space. Also, I have never, EVER, heard the word mebibyte or gibibyte used outside arguments of 1000/1024.
is it useing wep ? easy to crack and change it
Tell me how. I really want to do it. It's freaking pissing me off.
Tell me how. I really want to do it. It's freaking pissing me off.
http://www.speedguide.net/articles/how-to-crack-wep-and-wpa-wireless-networks-2724 Theres TONS of ways to do it http://www.aircrack-ng.org/
Any others? That isn't windows friendly and doesn't work with most cards, any other way?
If you are using school computers, then you might want to be using them for academic purposes...
Like if you have biology you can get away with calling porn "studying anatomy."
Isn't 1 Gigabyte 1024 MB And 1 TB 1024 GB?
It should be, and forever will be when I'm talking about them. [editline]15th December 2010[/editline] I have 4 gibibytes of RAM - just sounds dumb, especially if you shorten it. I have 4 gibs of RAM! [editline]15th December 2010[/editline] http://www.google.com/search?&ie=UTF-8&q=1+gigabyte+in+megabytes THAT'S RIGHT GOOGLE

[editline]15th December 2010[/editline] http://www.google.com/search?&ie=UTF-8&q=1+gigabyte+in+megabytes THAT'S RIGHT GOOGLE
OBJECTION! http://www.google.com/search?&ie=UTF-8&q=1+gibibyte+in+mebibytes http://wintelguy.com/gb2gib.html is a plain and simple explanation, IMO.
I'm confused, is 1 "gigabyte" 1000 "mibibytes"? or 1000 "megabytes"? Is a "megabyte" 1000 "kilobytes" or 1000 "kibibytes". I'm so confused by this stupid forced standard so that HDD manufacturers can bend the truth about their drives capacities...
1 Gibibyte is 1024 Megabytes 1 Gigabyte is 1000 Megabytes
Like if you have biology you can get away with calling porn "studying anatomy."
And get expelled?
And get expelled?
I was able to get away with it
