You have to get with the times. Use more up-to-date prefixes. Unless you're American. If so, you can completely disregard what I just said and retract into your little bubble again. Some kid who goes to school with me thinks he is god because he can write hello world programs in python. He brought a introduction to python book to school and started showing it off. Everyone thought he was smart, I just laughed at him and asked him how the print command was coming- he's ignored me since. Its for the better though, nobody can really stand him and hes the type of illiterate who spits out worlds thinking hes intelligent. Edit: Yes! 300th post on this account!
He brought a introduction to python book to school
I should do that with my Java for Dummies book from seven years ago. I bet my school will fall for it, too.
Like if you have biology you can get away with calling porn "studying anatomy."
My girlfriend suggest she help me study for "Anatomy"... Much better than porn.
No. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_prefix

In practice, the IEC binary prefixes have seen little use by the press or the US computing industry and marketplace. However, they are starting to appear in the EU computing industry and marketplace (as required by EU law since 2007), certain US and International Government contexts (as required by contract or internal policy), and popular free and open source software such as Linux.
While mebi- et al. might make a bit more sense as a distinction, that doesn't change the fact that the word is not in common use, even in Europe. And it still doesn't really fix the problem. The common abbreviation for mebibyte would still be MB - and then you'll have the same problem we had in the first place.
I bring you stolen content http://www.kidzworld.com/forums/tech-and-electronics/t/915056-x-ray-vison-colur-of-mac?page=last#post_1375898 On an unrelated note, my brother had a HDD failure and he didn't have a backup of his files :frown:
Oh wow, someones computer is having a ventilation problem and they suggest installing a new browser. :saddowns:

There's also something to do with networking, but who cares. EVERYTHING ELSE IS 1024 = MEGABYTE. I will be very sad if the next windows or something shows that I have 4.096 Gigabytes of RAM.
Actually the common abbreviation for Mebibyte is MiB. ...

But since the SI system introduced these prefixes as 1000, 100000, etc, that makes more sense in the first place.
Really, it's just easier to call it a megabyte and leave it at that, while simultaneously knowing what it truely is.
It should stay the way it has always been (megabyte is 1024 kb, etc) using base10 when dealing with computers is stupid, and if they wanted another term for their idiotic base10 system, CHANGE ITS NAME NOT THE ORIGINAL NAMES.

If I got an Apple product for free, I'd probably be happy with it.
If I got an Apple product for free, I'd probably be happy with it.
I'd take any computer for free. Hell, I'd take the Kinect, even though I don't have an XBox. The Snuggie, though. That would be burned for warmth.

Logitech M305 represent! anyone?
Some dumbass in one of my computer classes was trying to "hack" the computer to remove the internet blocks so he could get on Youtube. He was digging around in the system32 folder because he thought the blocking software was in there. Eventually he "found it" and deleted it. I'm sure you can guess what happened after that. One of the IT guys had to come fix it the next day. On a slightly unrelated note, the same same guy is almost always looking at porn instead of doing his classwork.
