And if I reformat it they'll call it "damaging school property."
Buy a new hard drive for it. Swap the new one in, do whatever the fuck you want. When they want the laptop back, swap the old one back in. You can get a decently-sized laptop hard drive for < $100.
Actually, doesn't Windows 7 has IPv6 running by default? Hell, Windows had IPv6 in a "stable" release before Linux did - I highly doubt it will blue-screen in minutes due to something enabled by default.
And IPv6 addresses are generally easier to remember than they look. Since you're in theory given an entire /64 network to use (far larger than the ENTIRE IPv4 address system), almost every address will end in 0:0:0:1, 0:0:0:2, and so on. So, if you're working on a single network, you can just memorize one network address, and then a two-byte host address. And since there's no subnet mask to keep track of, it might actually be easier than IPv4 addresses.
My copies of windows 7 have all had IPv4 by default but worked with IPv6
It's the desktop G5....
And if there isn't one, then whoever told me it was a G5 is dumb.
I know nothing about Macs so I have no idea what it is.

My bad - thought you said PowerBook. Ah, well, just buy a normal hard drive then. Those are even cheaper. And just as easy to install.
I think it'd be mostly a waste of money because, well... The reason it's sitting unused behind my monitor is because I don't have anywhere to place it anymore. Since I got my new desktop after my laptop committed suicide from my abuse, the Mac needed to leave because it was using the desk space I needed for said desktop and huge-ass monitor.
Oh well. I'll probably think of something eventually...

get a firewire hard drive, install 10.5 on it, then boot, hold alt before the apple appears and click the firewire drive. Boom, instant boot into a nice install of OS X
Snip, forgot to refresh page, so I was very late
I'm homeschooled online and they supplied me with an iMac G5 (which I didn't need but was nice, and is sitting unplugged behind my monitor right now).
They tied it down, locked so many things out in the actual OS itself that it was slower then Windows whilst being bogged down by 50 terrible viruses. I couldn't even use Safari without getting the magical spinning color wheel about every 5 seconds. And then it would randomly crash, or the internet would stop working on it and JUST it and I would have to reboot it to get it to work again.
Wasn't even allowed to do system updates. It was 0.0.1 VERSIONS BELOW THE REQUIRED FOR STEAM FOR MAC.
And Firefox was the only thing that had the web blocker on it. Safari didn't. I forgot the name of it but it blocked EVERYTHING that was even REMOTELY fun.
Oh! It was... Web Marshall... Or something like that I think....
Doesn't matter what version the OS is, you can't get STEAM without an Intel processor. PowerPC users got shafted right around Snow Leopard was released, then everyone just started to ignore them.

Because it's a piece of shit and it's my experimental computer. I've formatted the hard drive completely about 1000000 times.
