Sort-of content: I tried explaining the concept of Counter-strike to my 11 year old dipshit cousin while he was watching me play with bots. He kept saying that "they stole those guns from Call of Duty," and that "it looked gay because you couldn't have perks or kill streaks." I tried to explain how Cs1.6 came out years before any of the CoD games that take place in modern day, but he just wouldn`t listen. I don't even want to get started on how he reacted when I tried to play some Team Fortress 2. :sigh:
IMO, Call of Duty kind of ruined the gaming industry, everything is like that, or supreme bandwagon fanboyism.
OS X is arguably a more "manly" OS than Windows. I mean, underneath it all, it's FreeBSD with some proprietary drivers, a NeXTSTEP-derived GUI, and a surprising amount of GNU libraries. I would, based on that info, conclude that Windows is the "toy" OS, not OS X.
Well yeah it's more manly underneath but apple don't take advantage of it all and locked stuff out
IMO, Call of Duty kind of ruined the gaming industry, everything is like that, or supreme bandwagon fanboyism.
More I think about this, the more I realize that it's true. Because of Call of Duty, the developers ditch the singleplayer experience and solely focuses on the multiplayer aspect. Because of Call of Duty, the gaming industry shifted towards the consoles. Because of Call of Duty the multiplayer component of almost all FPS looks and plays like Call of Duty. Think about this, if Call of Duty didn't exist, would Crysis 2 look the same way it does today? I just watched a video of the multiplayer beta, it looks exactly like Call of Duty's, which in my opinion, is not a good thing. IMO Call of Duty made the developers forget the creativity that they once had before Call of Duty, and forces them follow the same, stale outline that Call of Duty 4 has set out. And the worst part is, that it works, and it just continues on and on. /rant
Thus why Black Ops shall be the last CoD I ever buy. I'll stick to the better games. CS, TF2, etc.

I just got BC2 because of the sale, and my review of the single-player is "it's a good game, but it's a good Call of Duty game, not a good Battlefield game". Which rather disappoints me - I love the way Battlefield plays, more open-ended and strategic than the linear banality of CoD. I haven't tried the multiplayer yet, but I'm hoping they at least followed the BF2 formula instead of the MW2 formula. Maybe I should publish that one game design doc I have sitting in my home directory. It might spark some creativity, which is more than it's going to do otherwise. [editline]22nd December 2010[/editline]
Thus why Black Ops shall be the last CoD I ever buy. I'll stick to the better games. CS, TF2, etc.
CoD4 was the last I bought. I'd like to at least try MW2, if only to critique it, but $60 is too much for that. Also, TF2 is officially ruined. Has been since the Demoman update, when Valve threw out their nigh-flawless game design to pander to the fans. Don't get me wrong - I would rather play TF2 as it was released than many other games - I have no problem with hats or microtransactions - I don't think the balance is completely fucked - but what Valve did to the game design of TF2 should qualify as a crime against humanity.
Modern Warfare 2 is still $60? Why?? [editline]wefe[/editline] I mean, I just don't get it
Modern Warfare 2 is still $60? Why?? [editline]wefe[/editline] I mean, I just don't get it
Fuck if I know. I just know that I'm not buying it until it's under $20.
Snip
Modern Warfare 2 is still $60? Why?? [editline]wefe[/editline] I mean, I just don't get it
Because 11 year olds' parents will pay for it.
"His typing will be better." "Runing" "explan" :colbert:
Because 11 year olds' parents will pay for it.
But what would they rather have, Black Ops, the newer and better game, or Modern Warfare 2 the good but pretty shitty game.
But what would they rather have, Black Ops, the newer and better game, or Modern Warfare 2 the good but pretty shitty game.
MW2, obviously! Black Ops is obviously just a shitty clone.

Also I can't help but think that Activision/Call of Duty started the whole 'PC games costing $60' thing.

I was out of that for about 4 months, and now when I come back it looks like a fucked up......well I don't even know. I can't even figure it out. There's a million useless things now. It was much more fun when it was Team Fortress 2, not Millions of boxes with the same hat in them backpack menu unfortress 2
holy shit you learned how to install a virtual machine that is so c00l!111!one1!!1!
I was testing Windows Whistler out.
Also I can't help but think that Activision/Call of Duty started the whole 'PC games costing $60' thing.
that's because they did. There were no mainstream games before Modern Warfare 2 that cost $60. Then a few other developers caught on and figured out they could charge more because the extra $10 hadn't affected MW2 sales.
I can't see shit
PC World (a magazine I still am subscribed to for reasons I can't remember) is basically saying that Norton is the best antivirus out there currently, it's main argument stating that the interface is "well laid out and attractive".
:ninja:
I've never got around to cancelling my subscription for this shitty magazine and getting a GOOD magazine like CPU or Maximum PC, not this asshole of a magazine that's full of a lot of shit that any actual computer nerd wouldn't care about.
