I always do Caps Lock on + Letter + Caps off
I rarely touch the caps lock,
I use shift even if I have to write a whole book with uppercase letters. My little finger is on the shift button all the time.
I never use my pinkies when I type, they have reserved themselves for doing capitalization. Weird habit for some reason.
I have managed to learn to type without looking at the keyboard but not touch-typing. Makes learning a new keyboard bloody difficult.

Like my mums laptop, it's set to US. The @ key has swapped places with the " key, and it just confuses me.

Macs have that too on UK layouts.

Mac Keyboards make me rage, most software replaces CTRL + key with Command + key.
And I keep going to press CTRL instead, and once I actualy do get my head round it, I later go to use my PC and guess what? im still in Mac mode...
this is why we need to have one standard for everything

I prefer cmd, it is positioned much closer to commands I use. I have learnt to switch betwenn mac and pc mode really easily

I have the opposite problem. When you use a Mac with Boot Camp, it automatically maps the command key to the windows key. So unlike you, where it simply does nothing, whenever I try to use command key, it minimises whatever I'm doing to go to the start menu
I think I may have to bring a standard USB keyboard with me to college, since they are buying Macs for the Interactive Media labs. Althought they said they might be keeping a few PC's around (THEY HAD BETTER!)
How does bootcamp run anyway? I might have to use that and run Windows 7 instead of OSX.

If my memory serves me correctly, Boot Camp basically just partitions your hard drive, one of the mac filesystem thing, and one of NTFS, so it works with Windows.

Ha, a snowflake was right beneath this guy's face and I thought it was a tear. I thought someone animated it until I tried to copy it :v:

Why? They are the same pretty much the same, ctrl is still ctrl on a mac keyboard running windows. Only difference is cmd is windows key and alt is where the windows key is
I don't like using other peoples computers to begin with, I would rather be as comfortable as possible.
And the Course is art and design, not wrapping your head around apples idea on how operating systems should be.

You are still going to have to use the windows key to copy-paste and use functions. Also cmd+w closes windows and cmd+q closes the whole program.

I hate wrapping my head around how microsoft thing operating systems should be.
[editline]24th December 2010[/editline]
I don't really, but the Windows key is just an annoyance
I agree, I keep hitting it in games. Which is why a keyboard with an option to dissable it while ingame might be in order, that or finding a piece of software to dissable it.
[editline]24th December 2010[/editline]
Infact, shouldnt I be able to unmap it in the registry?
Could this be a viable solution for you?

That worked perfectly, thanks.

Also MacTrekkie, for the dumb rating, I just want to clarify. Adobe software works just as well on Windows or OSx, I would rather use Windows since I have far more experience with it so I can focus on the actual work rather than wondering how to do something. There may be better music related software for OSx, but I cannot say the same for graphic design packages.
It's not much, but here goes.
My mum was in the market to buy my sister a new laptop for Christmas. Her current one is four years old, and she wanted an iPad to replace it, even though the four year old laptop outclassed it in every way.
I set my mum on her way to Curries, and tell her what to look for. She had a £500ish budget, so I showed her some laptops in that range, and told her what RAM and HDD and GHz meant simply, and went off to work.
When I came back home, mum told me that she didn't buy the laptop yet, and has put it on reserve, as she did not want to buy it from the obese neckbeard shop assistant who served her. It turned out, he was being very aggressive in pushing extra 'offers' in with the laptop. Basically:
Her: I want this laptop please.
Him: Okay, you'll need this Norton Antivirus and Microsoft Office bundle, that comes to about £80 pounds, so in total that's £600(ish) pound.
Her: Sorry, I don't want Norton or Office.
Him: Well are you planning on using the internet?
Her: Well, it's a gift, and I'm sure she's able to set up her own antivirus and word processing...
Him: But this offer's today only! YOU NEED THIS FOR THE INTERNET.
Her: Well, if it's necessary, I'll come back for it..
Him: Well then, that comes to about £500 pound for a useless present that if she even attempts to use the internet with will result in her BEING HACKED.
Then she put it on hold.
She went back in the other day, and got the best assistant ever!
Her: I'm here to pick up a laptop please..
Him: Okay! Sorry, but I have to ask; are you interested in the Norton and Office bundle?
Her: No thanks.
Him: Aha good, you could do a lot better honestly. Need a warranty?
Her: No, we have home insurance.
Him: Excellent! Our cover is never able to compete with that. Anyway, that's £500 pound please blah blah

I know it's their job to push software to customers, but trying to mislead middle-aged woman into buying things they don't quite understand WHEN THEY HAVE SAID NO just infuriates me.
Anyway, I'm not sure what part of that counts as illiteracy :v:
