sawing his dads mac in half?
Or perhaps, you know, his face.
or both
But there was one thing I was not prepared for. The fucking desktop wallpaper. It was a goddamn 640px wide image, on a beautiful 1280x800 monitor. My eyes popped out of the sockets, puked and came back.
Hell, that's not so bad unless it's tiled. I mean mine looks pretty good and it's 800x600 on a 1440x900 screen. However the kind of image changes it. I mean on this one the fuzziness makes it look better, in my opinion. What exactly was the image?
JPEG rape + lower than native screen resolution = :barf:
Or perhaps, you know, his face.
I believe sawing his mac in half would make him tear his own face in half.
does this make me content? [img_thumb]http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/6372/ss20101116061550.png[/img_thumb] or does everyone else do this with their main PCs.
Installed CentOS on an old computer, after I get done with what I want to do, I'm going to try and do 365 days of uptime.

I'm not sure if this is the resolution he actually used, I'll check in a while... [editline]16th November 2010[/editline] Yes. It was. On 1280x800. [editline]16th November 2010[/editline] It's even a fucking jpg. Pixelfest, yaaaay.
So if I set up FreeNAS, will I be able to log on and access my files from anywhere, or will I need to set up a domain or something?
If I recall, it has support for Dynamic DNS built in. If you sign up for a supported service (Dyndns, no-ip, ect), you can have youraddress.no-ip.org for example. Make sure you forward the required ports for FTP and HTTP (If the default ports are blocked, you can change the port from the FreeNAS page).
Think of it this way. Instead of peacefully falling asleep every night, we're gonna smack you in the head with a bat and knock you out. That's what I'd imagine a computer feels when you just shut down the power. And same results come from it. Memory loss.
At the computer shop I work in we shut down all computers and laptops by cutting the power to them (to the whole store in fact) In very rare occasions a computer will go into startup recovery mode after that.
So today we ended up talking about music for some god forsaken reason in ICT. Ended up talking about how people get thier music. Someone said something about getting their music from iTunes and then one idiot just shouted "Just use limewire!" I then explained to him why limewire is crap and is most likely going to get your PC infected and then said "But I can't get viruses I have a mac" :gonk:

I have no idea what limewire is, how this idiot deserves a gonk or why jpg would be crap...
I am starting to feel like im the illiterate pretending to know things. Except you search within the program and most likely you download Adware
And limewire got shut down. I fondly remember my days with limewire
Losing unsaved work. Data can sometimes get corrupted or the occasional program might break, but all in all it's not the end of the world.
Someone once told me that suddenly cutting power to the hard drives could cause a head crash, was there any truth to it?
Someone once told me that suddenly cutting power to the hard drives could cause a head crash, was there any truth to it?
Sure hope not, the power adapter for My Pc has a FUCKING SWITCH Who puts a switch on a goddamn adapter?
Someone once told me that suddenly cutting power to the hard drives could cause a head crash, was there any truth to it?
It's possible with older drives, but rather uncommon. Not sure about newer ones. It's still a bad idea to just power it off - if data is still in a buffer, waiting to be written to disk, you'll lose it.
Sure hope not, the power adapter for My Pc has a FUCKING SWITCH Who puts a switch on a goddamn adapter?
People who want to comply to safety standards.
Right now, i am SO tired of our school computers, their 512mb memory when the min req for win 7 is 1gb and WONT CONNECT TO THE WIRELESS!!! If i had admin i might be able to fix it, but i dont. Also, shutdown -i is not blocked.
minimum requirement for 7 32-bit is 512 MB
Only good thing about limewire is the ammount of music it had.
Limewire is basically a really dumbed down shitty version of uTorrent. Except you search within the program and most likely you download Adware
and it keeps saying UPGRADE TO PRO LOL everytime you start it
My bro got Limewire pro, and I don't recall him buying it.
-snip- being dumb, sorry

I'll ask this here instead of wasting space with a new topic. I'm looking for a new graphics card. Current card is an ATI Radeon 3600 Series. I'm looking for a better graphics card that can run a good amount of modern games, with the price range around $100. Any suggestions? [editline]16th November 2010[/editline] Ah shit missed the quick questions thread.

Well I said around $100, so $20 isn't too much of an extra sum. But yeah, anything from $90 to $130 would be fine.
I thought limewire was banned? So, your bro is using warez How is that dumb? [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9055409/limewire.png[/img_thumb]
The act of asking that question and saying his brother is using wares is dumb.
why does everyone care about uptime
it's generally pretty retarded to be downloading anything off of public trackers/programs/etc imo. I've never used limewire but I somehow doubt it had that great of a collection and I'm guessing most of it was poor quality rips that had been transcoded 30 times.
Could have sworn this was the "Computer illiterate people who think they know things" thread. Not the general discussion about slightly computer related things...
