To get those, you would have to buy 1.com, which I'm pretty sure is not possible
No you wouldn't, First it would depend entirely on the nameserver and dns hosting.
How about we combine the "localhost" and "IPv6" ideas, and call the company "fe80", after the link-local address block (fe80::).
Not as catchy as Localhost
www.localhost.com Isn't taken, Should use that if possible.
This is an awesome idea if pulled off.
localhost.ee , Localhost.se , localhost.co.uk , 127.0.0.1.co.uk , 127.0.0.1.ee and so on. Don't you think that those should be avalible?
I want to work at a PC shop or whtever. But I am 12 :/ . And we don't have normal PC shops over here. About 3+ electronics shop in this city, all sell prebuilts and only HDD-s and DVD writers and readers. I think ONE might sell other stuff too, like GPU-s and so. But in Tallinn (capital of Estonia) They have more shops, never been to those.

We have some proper shops where I live but the owners are pretty brand and pricing illiterate, flowing with the crowd hype instead of learning stuff on their own. I feel your pain.
Illiteracy (Or possible exploitation) content:
In one of the aforementioned stores, I tried looking for AMD processors. None of them had it, except one. They had some crappy mini-ITX board with a K6 processor integrated on it. They said it was top of the line.
I laughed my out.
I was in history class yesterday and the professor was reminding a few students that he needed their term papers. One woman who's paper had been reset said that she couldn't find her paper. Conversation went as such:
Prof: The paper should still be on your computer. When you upload a paper it doesn't get deleted.
Woman: Well, I don't know. I can't find it.
Prof: Have you tried running a search on your computer?
Woman: I saved it on one of the computer pit computers to e-mail it to myself.
Prof: Well, that explains it. The campus computers are cleaned every night to save space.
I swear the professor had to restrain himself from facepalming. The sad part? The woman was in her twenties and the professor is a Vietnam veteran.
What's even sadder than that? Usually you're told that those computers won't save any files and are cleaned about 100 times before you get the chance to use one nowadays.
Seriously. At my college there are signs posted everywhere saying "Save your files to a flash drive!".
Signs. Signs everywhere.

Same at my college. But some people are just that stupid.

My web design teacher is semi-computer-illiterate. It's like he knows some things really well, but other things he's just clueless or plain wrong about.
Like today. It's a basic introductory class, so one of the subjects was image formats. I swear, he got far too much wrong to be teaching this class. Here's what he said, in full:
.GIF:
* Smallest file sizes
* Supports animation
* Supports transparency
* Owned by CompuServe
.JPG:
* No transparency
* No animation
* Largest file sizes
* Most detail
.PNG:
* Medium file sizes
* 24-bit transparency
* No animation
At no point did he mention that GIFs look ugly as hell because they're 256-color, which is unforgivable. I can accept not talking about APNG, since that's somewhat new. But the biggest fail was the complete lack of info on different types of images - use JPEG for photos, use PNG for vector graphics. The way he said it, most of the class probably thinks GIF is the best format to use for everything.
I seriously wish I had tried to test out from this class. I figured I needed a refresher on HTML/CSS, because it's been years since I actually did any, but this shit is bananas.
Look through w3schools for a refresher if you really want to
.jpg is largest? Oh god, Where I have been?
and our teacher calls flash drives "USBs".
I told her an interface can't store data, she sent me out the class.

err....
I work at a shop that also sells computers.
You should really note that alot of consumers (like 90%) dont want to know how their computer works, they just want to know that its good enough for what they want to do with it, some even leave when you bore them with to much tech.
If you can explain them the inner workings of a computer and keep them entertained while doing it, you will have a sale on your hands tough because they fully trust your judgement in choosing a computer for them. Trust is they key not knowledge (tough knowledge can create trust) in these kinda stores is more about the salesman's social skills then his knowledge.
I have a computer store 2 blocks away from my house (father and son kinda buisness), they know their shit and have great service. They always change your parts on the spot if they are broken and call you when the original is repaired, they also dont bullshit people.
Even tough they are kinda exspensive I buy all my parts at there due to their great service and they keep an eye out for me for cheap second hand parts ect. They even advice cheaper parts if you chose some components to high priced for what you want to do with it. This is very exspensive to do.
Point being is that I rather would sell computers at the second shop but they will never get big due to the fact that they are to nice. I love having them here but the main part of the consumers doesnt know the difference between their advice and cheap advice, they just look at what salesperson is more social, nice and doesnt bore them with useless information.

What I meant was images that were created, or at least look like, vector graphics. A map, or a cartoony image, or an old sprite, or a diagram, as opposed to a photo or other realistic image.
this, but selling computers not bikes

oh ok
Sat in IT class today doing some boring powerpoint stuff, I look over and notice a teacher completely baffled by the orientation of the screen, it was upside down, she called in another IT teacher he had alook he signed on while it was upside and pressed ctrl alt down, this shutdown the computer instantly after booting back just before it booted up the OS the checkdisk thing came on and she suddenly said to the teacher, oh its the blue death screen, sitting there slightly giggling to my myself, the IT guy who pressed the button looked up at her, sighed and said, I will get the IT tech.
Is it acceptable to post anti-content? As in, someone you expected to say something stupid, but actually turned out to know what he's talking about?
Fuck it, I'll just post it. Same web class as the earlier content. Guy across from me is talking about gaming, how his PS3 is so great, how he rocks at Unreal Tournament 3. I sit quietly, waiting for him to slip up. He does, by saying the PS3 has eight cores. I correct him: "It's built with eight cores, but one is expected to be broken coming out of the factory, and another is reserved for the OS. So that's just six cores, and they aren't really true separate cores, just SIMD coprocessors for the main chip."
He responds with "So what's better?"
I laugh. "Get a proper gaming PC-"
He cuts me off, "Of course a PC would perform better, but it costs a lot more."
Dang. Kid knows his stuff. Turns out he's a decent guy - we disagree on PC/console, and he stubbornly refuses to admit that UT2004 was FAR BETTER THAN UT3, but the guy runs Linux on his laptop, which makes him an OK guy in my book.
yeah, and at my local computer store they charge people $30 to just install/uninstall something on their computer.
per program.
Also they charge $100/hr to just check their computer and see what is wrong with it.
It's easy to make money off idiots, and they know that.
It may not be the right thing to do, but still.

He uses it for web development and coding. Since he seems to know that pretty well, I'm inclined to think he knows his shit.
I was in my communications technology class today, recycling some computers for video editing (Combining 6-7 semi-functioning computers into 4 maxed out computers). Some other student, which I mentioned before, casually came up and started asking me what I was doing. I explained that I was installing service pack 3 for XP, then after a pause he asks "Aren't you glad that Bill Gates invented computers". Calmly, I explained that he was wrong and that Bill Gates founded Microsoft, which created MS-DOS and Windows.
Not that exciting...
Good. He's not one of those idiots that thinks he's right about everything.

Also, PNGs can have animation, so there's something else he's wrong on.

I mentioned that, but since most browsers don't support it (only FF and Opera, IIRC), it isn't a big deal. It would probably be worse to teach this class about APNG.

Ah, missed that. Damn skim-reading. Rating myself dumb accordingly.
My "Application Software" teacher seems to think that the best alternative to Garage Band (on Windows,) is Audacity.
Fucking Audacity.

Fuck yeah, Audacity.

It has, like, a feature that makes the sound go faster, holy shit
