Not computer illiterate, per se, but I just had to teach this girl the entire history of gaming. Didn't know what the Magnavox Odyssey was, didn't know who Atari or Sega were, Didn't even know about the Playstation 1. It was partially frustrating because some fluffer nutter kept interrupting me to gurgle something about how the 360 was better and CoD is great, and the girl only knew about Nintendo and Microsoft (and even then, she only knew them for the Xbox and Xbox 360)

I´m sure she can name something that is huge in the area that she is interested in that you can´t name. Ain´t a perfect world yet
Other than stores having ludicrously overpriced hardware, I see nothing actually "illiterate". Graphics cards like that are actually pretty common in businesses, to let a computer use multiple monitors (one off the mobo, another off the card) without costing a fortune. Not everyone use a graphics card to play games, you know.
usually there are specialized graphics cards for business applications: e.g. NVIDIA's Quadro series, AMD's FirePro...
There is a problem with the "Quick questions that doesn't need a thread.. Thread" - It's the quick part. /Rare rant
I looked in the places nothing there http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8118/screenshoteft.png Well my HDD looks broken
I'll just leave this here... He thinks he has installed Ubuntu.
I'll just leave this here... He thinks he has installed Ubuntu.
I never thought i installed it. it somehow locked up during the install and i reset the computer and winxp bluescreens all over my screen. Now I am stuck on the LiveCD version you dense shit.
usually there are specialized graphics cards for business applications: e.g. NVIDIA's Quadro series, AMD's FirePro...
Sure, 1000$ for a dual screen, GREAT
usually there are specialized graphics cards for business applications: e.g. NVIDIA's Quadro series, AMD's FirePro...
That's for CAD and stuff, not hooking the boss's desktop up to a projector so he can show a powerpoint. Trust me - there's many situations where being able to add another video out is needed, but more graphical processing power is wasted. Also, with a PCI bus, there's no point in attaching a more powerful GPU - it can't receive instructions fast enough and will be idling %90 of the time.
I never thought i installed it. it somehow locked up during the install and i reset the computer and winxp bluescreens all over my screen.
WHY WOULDN'T IT FUCKING WARN ME. FUCKING DENSE FAGGOT NERD WHO MADE THIS NEVER REALIZED THAT EVERYONE DOESN'T KNOWHOW HDD'S WORKS, /c
Okay, that's not the way to do this. Oh god, your complete and utter incompetence is just hilarious. Did you even bother reading the wiki?
no stop don't bring that thread into this one fatty started such a drama whinefest

You fucking shut the thing down while it was installing. There is no need to warn anyone of this. It's common sense. When you install any OS they assume you won't so something as stupid as turning the thing off. Also, you should take a good look at yourself before calling people dense or nerds.

Since we seem to be on a Mac-hating spree, I bring marginal content: First day of my Web Design class. They stick us in a lab with some pretty good computers: iMacs, 27" screens, Core 2 Duo processor, 4 gigs of RAM and a Radeon 2600. They might not be optimal for top-edge gaming, but they're definitely overkill for a class built around notepad and IE. We were there for about 45 minutes, working on stuff, when the power to the room suddenly just cut off. Not just "flickered enough to shut everything down", actual zero power. Well, you know how when you build a computer, you have to make sure the PSU can give it enough power? You also need to do that when setting up a computer lab. The room actually can't supply enough power to run every computer in there. We have since been told to turn the screen brightness down to minimum, which is still sufficient given the lighting, but I just find this an example of "fail".
Just going to say this before I go back to lurking this thread again. Ubuntu is the worst experience I have ever had with any piece software ever. Point and laugh all you want, I don't care. You are all just massive trolls.
Ubuntu is the worst experience I have ever had with any piece software ever.
Well duh, you fucked everything up, of course it's a bad experience!
Just going to say this before I go back to lurking this thread again.
Point and laugh all you want, I don't care. You are all just massive trolls.
Gets proven wrong over his massive mistake, calls everyone else for trolls. Yeah, that sounds like common sense
be quiet child, no one cares for your pathetic attempts to get attention learn what a troll is before you accuse people
You are trolling when you try to get someones reaction.
Not really illiteracy. but it's something interesting with my tutor Early in the year, he said that we should all stop pirating games because we will be working in the industry soon, and we'll basically be taking money from ourselves. In the interview previously, he kept dropping hints that we should "Aquire" some programs by other means He recently handed out bootleg copies of 3DSmax aswell And in a resulting conversation, a less intelligent peer said that one day he'll torrent OSx and install it in windows, so that he can never get virus', and he went on about "How has noone thought of this before?" and whatnot.
You are trolling when you try to get someones reaction.
Not exactly, but it's ok if you can't comprehend what a new word to you means. Seriously, you have no idea on what trolling means.
Wait, Macs with notepad and IE?
Mac hardware, Windows software. Rather common in education - Apple gives schools a deep discount (to get kids hooked), but everybody uses Windows, so that's what gets taught.
