This one time I put a trojan in someone's Kernal. *gets on a bike and wheelies off into the sunset*
OH MY GOD THE FAT CONTROLLER I fucking loved TTTE. [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
Disgusting! The omelettes, I mean.
I don't know why everyone's tastebuds have to be different. I love Omelettes.
Why would anyone leave their computer? This idea baffles me.
I mean clearly you are joking, but over the past couple of years (probably 5 years) I have become less and less fond of computers. To the point where I just literally hate computers. I check my email and every once in a while come in here and look at some stupid posts and then shut my computer down.
Alright, I just finished punching the sheetrock. It's not exactly computer illiteracy, but it's more technological illiteracy. Here's what happened: [In gym with two friends] Friend 1: Hey Dacheet, I know you like Fallout, want my copy of the trilogy (FO1, FO2, Fallout Tactics)? Me: Sure! Friend 1: Yeah, I really hate stuff before the 90's. The graphics really ruin the game. [My eye begins to twitch] Friend 2: Oh man, I totally agree. [brofist's Friend 1] F1: Yup. And I hate how in those games you could only move five steps! That makes me SO mad! (He's referring to the turn-based combat system) F2: Things like that don't happen in Halo, now THAT'S where it's at. Me: Remind me not to be friends with you next time I talk to you. :suicide:
to be perfectly honest the combat was needlessly slow and dull in both games.
My friend is asking me questions on installing Ubuntu, the only thing he knows about Linux is that I have a laptop running it. He's got absolutely no use for it other than "I'm bored and want to do it" He even asked me "Does Ubuntu work in windows" I have a feeling he's gonna pull a Fatfatfatty and kill his harddrive
He just thinks that because All the mac morons are more "out there" while the PC Idiots just don't talk about it.
you're a perfect example of this there are just as many mac morons who aren't "out there", you just don't see them because they're not "out there" similarly there are just as many if not more pc morons who are "out there" you just don't want believe they exist/ignore them because they're so common
He even asked me "Does Ubuntu work in windows"
Yep.
He was talking as if it was a program he could open and just run
He was talking as if it was a program he could open and just run
VirtualBox
He doesn't know anything about Virtualboxing, dualbooting, livecds, anything at all. Not really related but if he gets any sort of error, his first reaction is to open System restore, he restored his system once because he accidentally hit "Sort icons by name"
Not really related but if he gets any sort of error, his first reaction is to open System restore, he restored his system once because he accidentally hit "Sort icons by name"
That has to be made up.
Power Pack sounds like something from the 80's.
Now you're playing with power!
That has to be made up.
Nope, he seriously did that, there's probably 1/4 of his desktop that isn't filled up, and his icons are set to "classic" size
Now you're playing with power!
Wow.
My local Maplins have an FX5200 for £50
Wow.
When did they go from that to white macfag esque bubbly toddler stuff anyway.
I think it was when the DS came out [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] Yep, Gameboy Micro had a mouse fucking the cartridge port
He's got absolutely no use for it other than "I'm bored and want to do it"
That's actually how I tried Linux the first time...except it was Knoppix, not Ubuntu. On a side note, today I will install Ubuntu onto my flash drive.
Arguments and pointless chat v7
Guy: "You should get Black Ops on 360" Me: "I would rather get it on PC, because I like the controls more and because of better graphics. Besides, I don't have Gold XBOX Live" Some other guy: "PC doesn't have better graphics" Guy: "It all depends on your monitor" :eng99:
My stepmother won't let me use her computer because "I make it slow"... She is the one with four different kinds of anti-virus software and has 20 pointless programs running. When I use it I end pointless processes and it speeds up tremendously. The best part is when I try to explain something she just yells at me. Computer illiterate people are annoying when they don't even listen.
that's mostly true [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] it's nice to see the illiteracy thread still can't recognise illiteracy
Let me just upgrade my monitor so I can run Crysis on 1920x1080 all high 60 fps. Yeah, that's totally not illiterate.
that's mostly true [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] it's nice to see the illiteracy thread still can't recognise illiteracy
You're that guy who said that, Aren't you?
I found me, too!
Oh my god - the stupid in this thread http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1010&t=88330
I liked this one:
In my experience, RAM is fickle stuff that hates all life and manages to break far more often than the rest of the computer. I've had RAM that would only sometimes make it past POST but never throw an error once it had (I ran memtest to 800% completion with no errors, yet my computer would only make it past POST after 30+ tries). I've had RAM that would make it past POST yet cause my system to crash frequently (memtest found thousands of errors this time).
Only computer I ever heard of that you need to run-start.
Will you guys quit the freaking Linux bullshitting? Oh well when content is away.
ever used tomtom or tivo? how about an android phone? maybe a Linksys WRT54G series router? perhaps a WD MyBook? How about a Samsung TV or an LG Bravia? ever been to an arcade with Gaelco or Sega Lindbergh games? how about pretty much any motorola phone since 2004? remember those leapfrog learning devices? you've used linux at some point in your life, I guarantee it.
You seem to not know the difference between embedded and linux. Android isn't linux, its fucking Android. Just because its open source doesn't mean its linux, its not designed for x86 machines; mostly ARM architecture processors. A hardware implementation is much better at a specific role then software. You don't need Operating Systems for many different things, its the lazy way to do it. There is a reason fixed function processors exist, to do one thing really well. If it will only do a certain thing and won't change what it does based on what its given it doesn't need an OS. if it interfaces with humans in a non-direct way it usually has an OS. Its amazing the stuff you can make to do a good that uses zero or minimal software when you have an FPGA. Sorry I just get really peeved when people say that embedded software is the same as linux. If you ever mess with an ardunio you aren't using linux, same with a PIC, or most any other microprocessor that lacks the x86 instruction set. Special projects withstanding, just because you can put linux on any consumer device doesn't mean its better. A microwave with an OS isn't better then a pure hardware implementation.

Well it's the linux kernel is it not? That is the defining element for whether it runs linux or not yes? But by that standard of course there are just as many things running Windows embedded of some sort.
no... most things that are embedded use NO operating System. There is an over head to an Operating System. You are far better off using low level languages to directly access the stack and IO calls then an OS. When I see someone use an embedded OS it disgusts me. It means you were to lazy to do it the right way. I don't think you want to run an embedded OS on a 40MHz 16-bit processor. Being based of the linux kernel doesn't mean it is linux.
Linux compatibility: -Android's kernel was derived from Linux but has been tweaked by Google outside the main Linux kernel tree. Android does not have a native X Window System nor does it support the full set of standard GNU libraries, and this makes it difficult to port existing GNU/Linux applications or libraries to Android. However, support for the X Window System is possible. -Google no longer maintains the code they previously contributed to the Linux kernel as part of their Android effort, effectively branching kernel code in their own tree, separating their code from Linux. This was due to a disagreement about new features Google felt were necessary. The code which is no longer maintained was deleted in January 2010 from the Linux codebase. However, Google announced in April 2010 that they will employ staff to work with the Linux kernel community.

and my reply:
it's Linux. it uses the Linux kernel and a Linux shell. the only thing it doesn't have is the GNU coreutils (which is replaced by busybox in a lot of distros anyway, ie slitaz, dsl) and the X Window system. and the X Window system isn't even installed by default in many (read most) poweruser distros. if the lack of an X window system actually made it not Linux, then Gentoo would not be linux, Arch would not be Linux, any server distribution would not be Linux. you've done a good job making yourself into content for the computer illiterate thread, by the way.
My cat is stupid when it is on my knee it goes on the keyboard like a fucking dumbass so I move the keyboard back so the cat(name withheld) has room to rest its paws BUT IT GOES BACK ON THE FUCKING KEYBOARD OH MY GOD MY CAT IS SO DUMB!
that's mostly true [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] it's nice to see the illiteracy thread still can't recognise illiteracy
Yo so phunny. It's not mostly true. It's true to a certain degree. And it's obvious that this kid wasn't referring to that degree.
