Everyone should know this more than those. Marathon: Infinity if I'm not mistaken. Might be Marathon 2 instead.
Possibly less bland doom clones too.
You did NOT just say that.

[sp]Marathon[/sp]
By your logic, does that mean since I have never played any version of Halo I have been living under a rock?
games
1: call of duty 4 modern warfare 2 2: runescape 3: facebreaker
No i haven't, i just played other games than you. Possibly less bland doom clones too.
I would hardly consider one of the first (if not the first) videogame to enable mouse look controls bland. However, I think being accused of living under a rock for not knowing what the name of a Mac game is going a bit too far. (I think it was initially a mac exlusive, but if somebody could clarify if it was or not would be great.)
1: call of duty 4 modern warfare 2 2: runescape 3: facebreaker
Nice try but it wasn't funny.
Can't really make that assumption. After all, CoD 2 and 3 were quite popular as well. Even CoD1 is somewhat well-known. And if you're going to insult people for not being able to identify a game by five seconds of watching, you should have no problem identifying these three: I'll give you a day. That should be more than enough time, since you think someone should be able to ID a game in a few seconds.
It's not necessarily about what the game is, more of what the game isn't. I have never played any of those three games, yet I know that they are not Doom, Golden Sun and Streetfighter. My horizons in gaming aren't too wide, my first console was the Playstation 1, but I can still recognize some of the major games from previous (and current) consoles and I would like to play some older games, but since those consoles were before I started getting into gaming, it's pretty difficult. My point is that the majority of today's console gamers don't see much beyond their 360s and PS3s and that the only games that interest them are CoD, Halo and whatever else is popular. I understand that there are many new-gen console gamers that have been gaming for a long time and do understand and know about previous-gen consoles and their games, but it's the ignorant ones who believe that the games that they own are the only games in existence that are worthwhile playing that irritate me. PS. Window title, filename and logo in the centre of the ring gave the game away.
Awhile ago in my CIS-102 class in college. We had to go through a slide show about hardware. 4 pictures, VGA, DVI, HDMI, and IEEE 1394. VGA was labeled 1394, DVI was HDMI, HDMI was VGA and 1394 was DVI. My head slammed down on the desk with embarrassment, I raised my hand and corrected him. Turns out the slide show is from the people that made the book, even the book was the same thing.

Lets say this, The desk is non-existent now.
I find this rather hilarious: http://twitter.com/#!/compwhizii/status/8254548674093056 Compwhizii bitching about a motherboard he bought. "Oh noes it doesn't OC and only takes 2 sticks of RAM." Well maybe you should've checked before you BOUGHT THE BOARD.
Yeah I did. It's on the specs that it has 4 RAM slots, and can handle 8GB of RAM. The BIOS has a very wide selection of options when it comes to overclocking. However, no matter what I do when I put in a second pair of RAM sticks (identical to the first, mind you) it just can't help but crash. The best explanation I've found is that the north bridge can't handle the extra 4GB of RAM at the speed it's going at. I've tried overclocking it and giving both the NB and RAM some extra volts as suggested but it just doesn't help. The thing is a nightmare to OC, I've spent countless hours trying to get my Q9550 above 3GHz but it just won't go. As for researching, it was kind of hard to do. This mobo had just been released the month before I purchased it, and I could not find anything of value about it. I took a plunge there, and it was stupid. I've had this board for well over 2 years, and I have not been very happy with it. ASUS boards have not been getting the best light as of recent so I guess it's time to move away. I hope that addresses everything, you shouldn't try to make assumptions from a 140 character tweet like that, there's usually much more story involved. [editline]27th November 2010[/editline] Hey maybe it's the chipset (nForce 780i) and not the mobo, who knows. I'm looking at a simple $60 intel chipset mobo right now as a replacement, good reviews about it working with OSX retail.
The computer I was sitting at restarted itself. The tower was under the desk.
The computer I was sitting at restarted itself. The tower was under the desk.
Tower of what? Cards?
Tower of what? Cards?
The box with all the parts in it. It's called a tower.
PS. Window title, filename and logo in the centre of the ring gave the game away.
Using Google would be cheating. After all, I was trying to prove a point that you probably can't identify relatively important games just by looking at it for a second. Venturing a decent guess is a fair way to start a conversation about the game, after all. Had whoever started this argument thought "this is my chance to show a console gamer a great PC classic" instead of "ha ha stupid consolefag", things probably would have gone much differently. I had a similar situation back at my high school. Chilling before class, playing Lufia on a SNES emulator (note to mods: I own the game cartridge, as with all my ROMs, making it completely legal). My Algebra teacher walks by and says "Is that Final Fantasy?". I said, "Lufia, actually". We then had a rather nice conversation about classic JRPGs, in which we decided that FF4 is totally overrated.
The case with all the parts in it. It's called a tower.
Fixed :eng101:
The crappy computer that has deep freeze in it. What name do you guys prefer?
shitbox
Tower of what? Cards?
The computer tower? How don't you know that?
The crappy computer that has deep freeze in it. What name do you guys prefer?
I use the term "craptop" for any crappy computer. For instance, my file server is a repurposed craptop. Yeah, it's not quite orthogonal with the other terms (a desktop sits on your desk, a laptop sits on your lap, but a craptop doesn't sit on crap), but it works. You could also use "crapbook" for any crappy laptops/notebooks.
shitbox is better
Craptop is better.
Craptop is better.
no in fact just to prove you wrong I'm setting my hostname to shitbox now
I will concede only that shitbox sounds better in the plural (shitboxen > craptops), but craptop wins for the singular (craptop > shitbox). Reason? Alliteration.
I prefer craptop.
this reminds me I still need to install zsh
yeah, shitbox in plural is superior to craptop in plural but vice versa for singular
I will concede only that shitbox sounds better in the plural (shitboxen > craptops), but craptop wins for the singular (craptop > shitbox). Reason? Alliteration.
shitbox flows better than craptop too
shitbox flows better than craptop too
Since we're devolving into farcical argument now: Major premise: Craptop is alliterative Minor premise: People agree with me Igitur I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG. QED.
