Wat, some people say that?
I just call it shit, its the only name I have ever used for it.
I know I am being pedantic but it still gets me when people say stuff like iPhone touch, apple phone, apple book and stuff like that.
I don't see what's wrong there.
Also, you're 13, maybe 14.
I can tell because I'm Dutch.

I can understand that, but apple book/phone doesn't bother me. Mac is short for Macintosh. Macintosh is an apple.

You needed to restart after a critical software update? OH MY GOD APPLE IS HORRIBLE KILL STEVE JOBS!
:frog:
Unless I am missing something.
This might be a dumb question, but why cant your OS just simply soft reset after a software installation. Instead of hard reseting and posting all over again. Infact, why not just reinitialise the affected components?

It's safer to just load it all up fresh, ditch all the old versions in the RAM and get on with life

That's an incredibly good quest- "WINDOWS NEEDS TO RESTART TO INSTALL THIS UPDATE." -ion.
POSTPONE UPDATE
*update postproned*
-5 mins later-
*I'll get some lunch*
WINDOWS WILL RESTART TO INSTALL UPDATE IN 30 SECONDS, ALSO IM GOING TO CLOSE ALL YOUR OPEN FILES INCLUDING YOUR PHOTOSHOP WORK WITHOUT SAVING
-come back in 2 mins-
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Probably the single most noteworthy improvement in Windows Vista/7, in my opinion. Thrice it did it while I was working in GMod single player.

what the hell, I never got a random window that said it would automatically restart my pc within 30 seconds or so for an update

year 2, 13 most likely
That's why I've turned off auto-updates... Haven't had that problem in years.
Except on my laptop that my dad removed a virus off of. That one brought the window back, didn't matter much to me though, I didn't use it much.
Automatic updates are disabled on mine anyway.
Hence why i've set it to automatically download updates, but let ME choose when to install them.
I just don't update. I also have to install loads of updates for Mac OS X but I never install them because i'm silly

That's how Linux does it. Only thing you need to restart to update is the kernel and certain device drivers - and someone actually sells a program to get around that, for when 30 seconds of downtime a year is too much.
There's really no reason why I should have to reboot after updating AVG or IE (I don't use it, but I keep it up-to-date anyways since many programs use it instead of your default browser to open a web page) or something like that. Hell, with the modularity of Windows' driver system, I shouldn't have to reboot after updating my graphics drivers.
Don't know if this has been posted.

Four. I keep track of these things.
Damn, my cover is blown! :ninja:
Not really. Does it matter how old I am?

Nope. I am 12 for example.

I like even numbers so it's okay.
You guys most likely remember the idiot I posted about a few pages back. He's at it again.
Today my friend had an encounter with him. The story he told me was frankly shocking. I didn't know that someone could go to such a level of stupidity.
My friend is on a team project for a Computer Science class with that idiot. They have to get shit done and they're both alone in the Computer Lab. Everybody knows that the idiot is failing our Java class. So my friend asked him if he got anything done or at least advanced (He was referring to the previous 3h Java lab we had). He said that he didn't, instead, he tough that it would be more important to look some shit up on the Internet for 3 hours. My friend asked him if it was related to java, he said no.
My friend told him that if he fails Java he would know why. Later on, my friend gets a Email (sortof we have an internal messaging system of sorts) from that idiot. He tells him that not only will he not fail but that he will beat him (as in greater grade).
I have talked to the idiot and he told me his grade for the Java course. This was a little while back. From what I recall it was a number between 30 and 40. He has 30-ish% in the class. At that point we could have accumulated a maximum of 60 marks towards our final grade. So 40% of 60 is 24. I know for a fact that he did not do any sort of work after he told me his grade. Now that we have around 70 marks accumulated he has still 20 points. The final project is due in two days and he didn't do shit for it. We have a final exam and it's worth 20% of our final grade. Assuming that he gets 100% in the Java final exam. He will get a final mark of 44%. Now, since he didn't do any kind of work related to Java in any way. His grade for the exam will be most likely around 10% maybe 30%.
On the other hand, my friend has 80-something in that class.
I don't understand how someone could even consider that a 100% chance of failure is better then a 100% percent chance of success. This just blows my mind. Does he not understand basic mathematical concepts? Actually if that's the case it would explain a lot.
He's also having similar results in another class. Around the same grade. He still wants to graduate that programs. It's ridiculous. We had 2 Programming classes and he failed both at around 55+% Both teachers let him pass. He failed a statistics class. He will now fail 2 more classes. He will also possibly fail another one. This is the class where my friend is in teams with him and another guy. When they tell him to do something it's always half done and it always has to be fully redone. We will have a team evaluation soon and they will both mention it to the teacher (actually they already talked to her). Since they did all the work he might not get any marks at all for that project.
Our program has a simple policy. If you fail more than 4 classes, you will be told to "consider another program". Since our college is small and the program is small as well CS teacher will sometimes allow students to take classes back without attending classes (this is because of schedule conflicts) the students get all the homework, assignments and exam, but don't have to show up to class. This often happens when students are close to passing but no enough. (in the 50s)
