My Uni had a similar enforcement policy but they toned it down to three out of the four criteria. I was getting annoyed with having to remember 7hG&xv7_ for three months then having it change to some shit like B(g29hg
Charms bar period, it's not even good on a tablet.
It's either use a shitty capacitive button or swipe and tap, whereas every other OS worth its merit has a home button in some regard accessible at all times
tbh it's pretty great on a tablet, but i find myself only using the search and settings buttons.

tbf if you're hosting servers with windows you've got more to worry about than a charms bar
but remoteapp

well at this point I'd rather buy a gun and shoot myself in the kneecap than buy another Windows tablet so I'm a bit biased
are you that guy who had an incredibly fucked up ie10 on an asus tablet?
doesn't change the fact RT is shit by nature
eh, i use it, and it's okay.
I just don't see the appeal for buying something windows and intentionally neutering yourself to the windows store. atom tablets aren't much more expensive

microsoft coulda done so much more with the surface
My biggest complaint is lack of MCE.
...MCE is available on W8...
SO I jsut wanted to try a new xboot image, you'd think rebooting and hitting F12 would do the trick. NOPE. My GIGABYTE mainboard just freezes if I hit any of the keys associated with functions like going into the BIOS etc. If I don't, it boots perfectly fine into Windows and shit, but if I try to access the BIOS or anything at all, freeze. I am not going to bother trying and debug/fix this, since I've sunk way too much time into fixing ridiculous issues like this with this board, and for once the problem isn't causing me any trouble right now.
FUCK. GIGABYTE. NEVER. AGAIN.

I want one so badly, it would look so tidy in front of my dinky server.
the fact that like half the internet thinks that Dorkly thing is an actual response from EA shows how dumb the internet is

But I have to pay extra for it. Granted it's only £7, but still it's enough to make me not want to upgrade on my desktop.
I don't see why then need to charge extra just for TV functionality.
Sure if the DVD playback adds onto the total price, I don't mind that being an extra charge. But I don't see how MC would use anything that needs licensing that doesn't exist in WMP anyway.

at that time I was just sitting here with my laptop, not doing anything. there's no way I couldn't have heard him knocking. He didn't even bother. Fucks sake.

point me to one with good battery life and design please
seriously, everyone is always mentioning those, but i don't think i ever saw one for sale
point me to one with good battery life and design please

that's because they don't exist since microsoft is trying to shovel their crap ARM version
[editline]11th April 2013[/editline]
although the design point could be argued on the surface because the kickstand is such an inelegant design
RT is a stopgap until Intel get their finger out and get x86 power consumption right down.
why is it that every time i ask about surface alternatives, people just insult surface even more :I
RT is a stopgap until Intel get their finger out and get x86 power consumption right down.
Compared to AMD, they're working on it
Also, you do know there are Intel Tablets that works like it was ARM right?
why is it that every time i ask about surface alternatives, people just insult surface even more :I
the alternatives are shit but that doesn't suddenly make the surface not shit
I fully believe if you're an owner of a windows tablet now, you just wasted all of that money, especially RT devices.

With barely any performance gains over an ARM chip.
All the bloaty software for windows is just gonna love that.

The Acer W700 is a nice piece of hardware and it gets some 7 hours of battery life on an Ivy Bridge processor. The cradle is a shitty solution, though.
If you're looking at the Atom Part, the W510 gets 14 hours with the dock connected: http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/09/acer-iconia-w510-review/
The Dell Latitude 10 gets 16 hours with its dock, but like the W700's cradle it's fairly useless: http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/22/dell-latitude-10-review/

Meh, better than the nexus 7 that I traded off for this thing.

android tablets are in another tier of shittiness that's only redeemed by things like the Note 10.2 if only for the awesome stylus integration.

Why do you insist on telling people that they wasted their money? You did it in the Surface Unboxing thread as well:
congratulations you just wasted $900
I mean, what do you gain from this? As far as I can tell, Ezhik seems quite content with his tablet, and you can tell him what you think about it without being an ass.
it might be a stretch, but I think I'm telling people they wasted their money because I think they wasted their money
[editline]11th April 2013[/editline]
keep in mind I was "content" with a Xoom for the longest time and that thing fucking sucks
it might be a stretch, but I think I'm telling people they wasted their money because I think they wasted their money
Cool, I may also just be tight ass about stuff like this, but I think it's a shitty attitude.
RT is a stopgap until Intel get their finger out and get x86 power consumption right down.
I dunno, the Atmo CloveTrail+ is shows both similar performance and power consumption as other leading edge ARM chips. I think Intel is starting to get pretty close for ultra low power consumption x86 CPUs.
