i will still buy the mac most likely because apple software and that sexy aluminium body and the keyboard and ooft the trackpad [editline]12th April 2013[/editline] does anybody here think that thinkpads are really attractive laptops?
Ew unibody [editline]11th April 2013[/editline] I think if I found a macbook for free I might use it but I'm not paying for one

A Macbook would be nice, but I'm not shelling out the bazillion dollars for one.
SkyFilm is done. I spent more time making the game not crashing than making it pretty, but now I can just screw with ENB now and just crank these fuckers out.

Has anybody here heard of or had experience with an Entropy Key? I'm half thinking of getting one for my router since all it has as a source of randomness is network interrupts. The other half of me is thinking it doesn't work and just feeds noise to the host computer and hopes that it's enough.
A USB device that "generates random numbers better" That sounds extremely stupid and gimmicky
For all we know, it could be some cheap ass ARM11 chip generating random numbers the conventional way.
For all we know, it could be some cheap ass ARM11 chip generating random numbers the conventional way.
Probably, a random number is a random number, there really isn't any "better" random numbers no matter how you generate it
Probably, a random number is a random number, there really isn't any "better" random numbers no matter how you generate it
Not necessarily. Most conventional random generators are generated from the system clock and then comes MATHS. Pseudorandom numbers. Boring. A real way of generating random numbers though, is with RADIATION. Counting emissions and spikes and a bunch of shit. It's some neat stuff.
I said there isn't such thing as better random NUMBERS, not ways to generate them
Well, there is if your generator keeps repeating itself and has a bias towards certain numbers.
For all we know, it could be some cheap ass ARM11 chip generating random numbers the conventional way.
"The Entropy Key uses P-N semiconductor junctions reverse biassed with a high enough voltage to bring them near to, but not beyond, breakdown in order to generate noise." Science.
For all we know, it could be some cheap ass ARM11 chip generating random numbers the conventional way.
That's what I've been thinking, and the anti-tampering stuff could be a way to stop users investigating how it functions, etc. The design reminded me of Intel's hardware RNG though, even if they're nothing alike in practise (That's what got me thinking about it in the first place)
"The Entropy Key uses P-N semiconductor junctions reverse biassed with a high enough voltage to bring them near to, but not beyond, breakdown in order to generate noise." Science.
Those are just fancy words describing what a diode is
Those are just fancy words describing what a diode is
I propose a new random number generator function, everytime you need a random number, you just display a generic error message, forcing the user to smack his keyboard and then you can calculate something based on the timing and keys hit :v:
Sup, I bought a second T420 Am I in the kool kids klub now???
That's probably the reason why I'm not getting a great chance, people buy countless of these then fix, then sell again at a fucking ridiculous price.
Need a file from a teacher but their email has been down for two days and i forgot my flash drive home today :c
That's probably the reason why I'm not getting a great chance, people buy countless of these then fix, then sell again at a fucking ridiculous price.
No, you just have to keep an eye out frequently. This is a perfectly working laptop and I bought it after a hour it was listed
No, you just have to keep an eye out frequently. This is a perfectly working laptop and I bought it after a hour it was listed
The one I'm after is an X220T or X220. Don't have the money but by the time I do it won't appear that often. I'm going after a broken one, anything that needs replacing that I am able to do. If that wouldn't help, I can post something wanted on Preloved.

Why is that? It's like a full minute of a silent black screen.

Just had to virtualize an ancient windows2000 workstation at work. Had to open up the the anciant with dust filled PC, extract the HDD, plug it onto an "IDE to USB2" adapter. use acronis to create image of HDD copy image into VM. boot acronis into the VM. restor image to VHD. Now it sort of boots, but it still gets stuck. Fucking Windows 2000 [editline]12th April 2013[/editline] Why Can't everything run GNU/Linux? :(
What distro would you guys recommend for a Atom N280 netbook?

Also, I've been trying to install Debian with UUI tool, and the Netbook is capable of USB boot, but it stops at a "SYSLINUX 4.06 Copyright etc." screen and no matter what I do, it won't have it any other way. Can't seem to find a solution on Google either.
Jesus christ, /g/ is full of freetards. I'm glad I don't go there anymore. I think 4chan has pretty much gone to shit now anyways, half of the people on there are literally 12. Facepunch hasn't really changed that much since '09 though, the bandwagon is still strong throughout the more popular sections. I don't remember sipwicket being this nice since I last visited.
I should probably mention that this is for a presumably computer illiterate person.
http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=119 it is.
http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=119 it is.
Nah, man. Remember this is for a netbook, I personally think mint would be a bit too bloated for that. Debian or Lubuntu would be fine imo.
