SLI and Crossfire are both terrible technologies. Stay away, especially with a first build.
One beefy GPU is much better than 2 crappier GPUs. Also ASUS is a fine brand also, for an example Matrix 5870 is a fine card with voltages unlocked.
Looked up alot of videos, and it seems that the 5870 is better... Goddamnit.
480 is a bit better in almost everything, but it's not worth it.
SLI and Crossfire are both terrible technologies. Stay away, especially with a first build.
This is around my 5th build :v: But i don't have 2 slots.
You would need a better PSU, also does your motherboard support SLI? You could SLI 2 460's and get a better performance than a 480 if your monitor is under 2560x1600. Last time a checked too the SLI'd 460's (768mb version) were cheaper than the 480
Yeah, it's 550w now, but i don't think i have enough cables, not even a 6-pin.
No I mean, building an entire computer new, SLI or Crossfire are bad.
Why? More processing power is good, right?
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-470-480-review/1 look at the benchmarks As I said, GTX480 is better but not worth it unless you have an Intel CPU.
Nope. Brightside, HardOCP, and Anandtech have all reported the Fermi also have better image quality than any 5X, which I can personally confirm.
Uhh, does it really fit then? And do i have enough cables? I don't really know how many i need, i'm really a software guy :v: Corsair VX 550W 80+ PSU, with a HDD & DVD plugged in, nothing else really. I'm unsure, because it says i need a 6-pin connector, and i don't think i have one..
You can use molex to PCI power adapters that come with it.
Antec 300 4GB DDR2 RAM 2.83GHz Q9550 Intel Quad Core 550W PSU Radeon HD4850 512MB
I would go for a 465 in all honesty, those specs aren't bad but a 465 would be more reasonable. then invest in a X6 or i7
I would go for a 465 in all honesty, those specs aren't bad but a 465 would be more reasonable. then invest in a X6 or i7
465? they're terrible [editline]05:26PM[/editline] a Q9550 is equivalent to an i5 750 in games so I don't see why he should
Oh I am thinking of the 470, I just really don't think a 480 is necessary, I would get a decent gpu then use the rest to bump up the rest of my computer, but that is just me
I would go for a 465 in all honesty, those specs aren't bad but a 465 would be more reasonable. then invest in a X6 or i7
The 465 is a bit of a flop, a 5850 will beat it every time for the same price.
You can use molex to PCI power adapters that come with it.
Dunno if i have enough molex cables from the psu.. Does anyone have the same as mine, and can confirm it?
your power supply has exactly the right amount for a 480, one 6 pin and one 6+2 pin
Oh. Oh well, that's great! I just want everything to be perfect, sorry for asking everything.. This card should max everything at the moment, right? Like GTA4 and BC2? Anti-aliasing isn't that important.
yes, with anti aliasing
Oh well then, I'll probably order it today (tomorrow really)
enjoy it
With 460s readily available, the 465 would be an extremely poor choice, unless you got it for free.
