[QUOTE=gman003-main;38388964]So anyways, I worked up a build for my dubstep-loving penguin-fucking coworker. BitFenix Prodigy, Gigabyte GA-Z77N Mini-ITX board, 450W Rosewill Capstone PSU (I'll be re-checking the wattage, that was just a guess at what was needed), Core i5 3570K, GeForce 650 (a Zotac model, since he wants an orange color theme), a 2x8GB G.Skill Ares kit, a 64GB OCZ Agility4 (he already has a hard drive to use), and some Cougar fans. Oh, and a hard drive fan that I'm trying to convince him to drop, but that he insists on just to make it look cool. Total build is $830 or so. I think I did pretty well at guiding him towards good parts. We were leaning towards the 660 Ti at one point, but he dropped down to the 650 for price. There is one problem. He wants to watercool it. I've talked him out of it for now, since a) I'm pretty sure that's unnecessary and b) the process honestly scares me a bit, but he's probably going to bring it back up. Should I be dissuading him from this? I mean, it would make it quieter, but I can't imagine it's really going to help much, especially since I picked out fairly quiet fans. But since I've never really done watercooling before, I don't really know for sure.[/QUOTE] Watercooling stuff is pricey, not worth it for a 650.
I wanted to install freemcboot on my ps2 but then A: My little sister left the PS2 on all night and destroyed the laser via overheating B: The disk I got to do it didn't have the right option so I would have needed to get another. At least no one touches my shit anymore.

They're a great case but they don't exactly have much room. (They do have a lot of relative space, but realistically...)
If you're installing Free McBoot, don't bother trying any glitch disc except 007: Agent Under Fire. It also doubles as a pretty good game. (There's still copies for like $3 on ebay)
Oh and don't even attempt to buy an AR Max to use for installation, the version that can be used is no longer sold anywhere. I tried Amazon, I bought a copy, it was the new version even though the website said it's the old version, Amazon sent me another copy for free (for something that wasn't their fault), and that was the new version too. I just gave up. Next time I visit my parents, I'm grabbing my PS2 and just ordering of the boot disc thingies you can get online, and just using that.
also you're going to need some tiny screwdrivers if you're planning the disc swapping method on a fat PS2 i don't know how it is on a slimline PS2
Swapping a disc on a slim PS2 is piss-easy. Remove case with a Philips screwdriver and put some tape over the 2 sensors (one is top-left from the location of the drive, and one is connected to the power button). If you're a pussy, it takes a while to get used to the idea of grabbing a spinning disc, but you'll get over it. I wouldn't recommend disc swapping on a slim due to some extra security methods they added in the slim, it's near fucking impossible to get it working in a lot of cases.
I just chipped my PS2 :v: Seriously, i can't find any of the games that i want to play.
I'd rather softmod it and then use the USB loader thing to play games from a USB HDD. Not sure how well that thing works though, considering PS2 uses USB1.1

It would be better to use an internal IDE HDD and then plug an IDE -> USB adapter in to your PC.
If only I had a fat model.
Yea I had slim too. I had a fat but it broke too. I miss my PSP more than it though.
I'm finding a lot of german and english stations. It's pretty incredible how far these signals go if they can reach all the way from england. [editline]10th November 2012[/editline] Just found a german house channel. aww yeah low-fi deadmau5
With the v12 PS2 slim scph 70000X (the one i have) you can actually solder in an IDE cable and get a HDD working. [editline]10th November 2012[/editline] Actually, there is another thing that lets you use a HDD with slim PS2s, it needs a modchip and some soldering though. It's called HDpro.
someone just blasted skrillex (and a spotify premium ad) so loudly it was still at a reasonable, comprehensible volume when the sound reached me around 300-500 feet across the entire dorm complex I'm more impressed that anyone would own a sound system capable of that than anything

Amazon is launching a datacenter in Sydney for AWS. If I had a large website, I'd totally do all that automatic load-balancing jazz and whatever the fuck you can do, and get some shit going on in that zone, you could actually use the website if you're in Australia. I wonder how large the pipes are between Australia and the civilized world.

Australian bandwidth is not cheap.
