oh christ just about shit myself
I accidentally ordered 2 i5-3330s instead of just one. brought my bill up to over $700
good thing I cancelled in time or else I'd have been destitute for a few weeks
[editline]22nd November 2012[/editline]
if I was ordering this stuff for me I'd just eat the cost and buy more stuff to finish a second build because I'm just a loonie like that, but this shit is for a buddy who wants me to build him a new gaming computer and I'm not eating the cost of someone else's stuff
[editline]22nd November 2012[/editline]
oh and by the way EVGA stuff is dirt cheap on newegg right now
I just installed Ubuntu for the first time on a real system, any linux tips so I don't become thread content?

DO NOT RUN rm -rf /
Regardless of what anyone says.
Ubuntu makes you enter some sort of admin override flag for that to work anyway.
Hey, now that I have a working DVD drive I should install the 12.04 LTS disk I have laying around onto my laptop for shits and gigs.
[editline]22nd November 2012[/editline]
Also, I'm kinda thinking about picking up a Vita for Black Friday. Still really tentative. Amazon is rumored to have the Assassin's Creed edition for $180, which has everything you need (console, memory card, and a game.)
[QUOTE=Dr. Deeps;38559706]DO NOT RUN rm -rf /

No, do it! :v:
On a serious note, yeah, don't type it into a terminal window. It reformats the partition alive.

It doesn't reformat a partition, it attempts to delete the root.
But doing rm -rf / doesn't work, you need to add a --no-preserve-root flag so it'll actually delete root, or just /* so it'll delete everything inside root.
do people actually use sudo? su -c is a billion times better and actually built into the coreutils rather than an add-on program
[QUOTE=ButtsexV3;38560236]do people actually use sudo? su -c is a billion times better and actually built into the coreutils rather than an add-on program[/QUOTE]
I like sudo, because you can make commands not require root, (ie. normal users can issue 'systemctl poweroff')

sudo is insecure
[QUOTE=ButtsexV3;38560328]sudo is insecure[/QUOTE]

Now that is a steal. Too bad you still need to enter in your CC info, as I don't have one and the prepaid cards I have are all used up.

It's torture for those in PST and MST though.
Rate me late if this was already posted, but this deal right here is amazing.

So the Vita deal on Amazon has a few more details released:
[QUOTE]I was going to make a separate post for this, but a leak made the news before I could!
To confirm, yes, this deal is happening.
Details:
White PlayStation Vita (Wi-fi)
Retail copy of Assassin's Creed III Liberation
4GB Memory Card
Download code for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (Vita)
3 months of PlayStation Plus
$10 Gift Card good towards Assassin's Creed 3 (360/PS3)
$179.99
It'll go live on our gold box page at noon PST in the Deal of the Day slot. We've got way more inventory for this than we do for any of our four-hour Lightning Deals, but don't plan to wait six hours and still get your hands on one.
I'll be checking this thread throughout the day / evening / morning to answer any questions anyone's got.
Happy Thanksgiving!

That's a pretty good deal for a Vita IMO. We'll see what other deals crawl out of the anus of the internet.

[QUOTE=kaukassus;38560843]Maybe, I'll join, but I am at work.[/QUOTE]
Do it anyways. Tennant is in here so you've got a nice British lad to listen to while he plays WoW.
gotta reinstall google+ on phone, some problem :v:
We accidentally Tennant's entire connection.

I'm sure he liked eating a full 120MByte/s. (I'm sorry, it was only for like 2 minutes at max)
Why am I the only one with a webcam in the hangout :v:
[editline]23rd November 2012[/editline]
Can't join anymore. it says error :(
[editline]23rd November 2012[/editline]
Also, that hangout sucked 50% power out of the phone, and turned it into lava
