I needed a test bed system for the virtualisation software so I dug out my old AM2 AMD 6000+ motherboard and cpu combo. Built it up into a spare case with a PSU and a crap HDD only to find the motherboard BIOS is too old to support virtualisation, fine I'll update it... Oh great it can only update from a floppy. NONE of my PCs have a floppy drive, fantastic. So I grab a newer AM2 board from my PC graveyard and transplant the CPU and ram into it, have no thermal paste so I thought "Meh" and just put it in expecting horrific temps... 38C Idle... This whole spare-parts build makes me feel ill, the board only has one IDE port and I only have one IDE cable so I've had to bend and fold it at horrible angles and mount the HDD into a 5.25" bay to get it to reach. Dry applied AS5 compound, 80MM fan bodged in the PSU because the 120MM one died. It's horrible, but it works.
[sp]Would be ironic if there is an Apple flavored one[/sp]
Apple lollipops are the shit. And Apple really doesn't taste like apples. I imagine Apple (the company) tastes like mint.
Do you have a good psu for it? Depending on what you want to do with it, a bad psu or rather, a usb charger and the like won't cut it, the pi will shut itself down when the load gets high and the voltage drops below ~5.
like 10, 5v 830ma
Also, I'm making an API. JSON or XML? JSON looks easier for me to wrap my head around it.
Depends on what you're working in, and what you're making. Generally, XML works best when you want to be able to strictly validate input, while JSON works better for things you can accept more loosely. As Tezzanator said, you could do XML-RPC. It works pretty well for Java vanilla PHP, but I've found it doesn't like existing within certain PHP frameworks. So if you're using, say, CodeIgniter, don't use XML-RPC. SOAP is also an option, but I advise against it.

I need to think my data structure through before I start thinking about this, maybe get some sleep first.
Not to be a creep, but I suppose you take the 4A to school? If you do it's weird that I have yet to see you.
I take the Metro because I'm cool like that. [editline]7th December 2012[/editline] ~Or maybe I just want to avoid you~

Perfect example of an anticlimax right there On a similar subject, I never throw my old computers away. Anyone else with me on that?

I just got my Prolimatech MK-26 together with 2 140mm BitFenix Spectre Pro PWM, and then started taking everything apart and put it on my HD7950. [t]http://i.imgur.com/u4UT8.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/HZdZE.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/8182R.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/1LEXI.jpg[/t] Looks really nice in my case and the GPU is idling at 28°C and when running dota 2 48°C instead of 68°C. Also Bf3 runs at 52°C max. Overall i am very impressed with this cooler even though it takes up a lot of space.
Got any pics of it in your case?
when you transfer your things to a new pc, you transfer its soul to a new shell
I can't just abandon them when I name them :C I get too attached!

i had to send area-52 to a recycling center when some part of it kicked the bucket i think it was the mobo i cant remember
[t]http://puu.sh/1yluS[/t] agh, all of those youtube centering tweaks just made it look worse :( also, the tesla model s is awesome.
I can't just abandon them when I name them :C I get too attached!
the computer itself is just a shell i mean, you don't get attached to a person's cells, do you? you get attached to their personality, to memories you both share, to all the things you did together. if a friend switched their body, they're still your friend, they just look different same here, the soul of your computing thingy lives on for as long as you transfer files, things, backups...
I deleted my ~250GiB porn folder, it's just a whole different computer now without all that glorious girl on girl action. So yeah, files are basically what the computer is about. You can buy some old Apple computer, reinstall the OS and set it up with all the games from your childhood if you had that kind of childhood, but it's just not the same.

This amount of effort makes the person through w/e effect see it finally working as a greater reward - the fruit of patience is the sweetest.
I really need a USB hub. Thought I had one, but the power adapter I have for it isn't the correct one and my pi turned off when I plugged it in (it's fine though). Thanks makol, you ruin everything. [editline]7th December 2012[/editline] Actually, pretty sure it's the right one, no clue why it's doing that. gonna pop the hub open.
