How did you get Steam in Pirate?
Y'arr, I be takin' that infer wit' me t' Davy Jones' locker, ya scurvy cur
ARM (or rather, the Cortex-A9 uarch) is more efficient within the <1W power bracket. But it scales extremely poorly with frequency - at 5-10W, Atom is more efficient, and in the 100W range Ivy Bridge is more efficient. The idea behind ARM servers was that some tasks really don't care about per-core performance, but do care about being able to cram thousands of cores into a rack without overheating. Intel is basically doing the same - cram 500 Atom chips into a rack and use it to serve web files.
The problem with cramming a few thousand A9 cores into a rack is the lack of SMP per chip. Meaning you have 64 individual systems in a 4u (Referring to the Calexda HP Moonshot prototype monster). Hope you have a good interconnect!

Maybe they are modified ARM cpus that have SMP?
But then you have the sysadmin shooting themselves by having to manage 384 instances of linux per rack with a few thousand virtualhosts.
Cloned instances, just like cloning a VM but with actual hardware. Have them all boot of the same SAN-stored image, even. Use DHCP to give them all different IPs.
Pepper;38794276']Maybe they are modified ARM cpus that have SMP?
Calxeda are not. They're bunch of A9 cores stuck in a plain old chip. Nothing fancy, nothing special. ARM for servers right now is a bit of a joke. Wait for X-Gene and Thunder.
My nephews school is doing that as well, it's crazy that they get ipads for free, totally does not seem as economical as reusable school books.
Cloned instances, just like cloning a VM but with actual hardware. Have them all boot of the same SAN-stored image, even.
I can't support that because I tried to use a tablet and an e-book for school once. Never again will I make that mistake, I personally hated it. [editline]11th December 2012[/editline] merge
But remember you're not part of the generation that grew up with ipads, I would assume they cannot read anything that isn't backlit. Evolution.
My nephews school is doing that as well, it's crazy that they get ipads for free, totally does not seem as economical as reusable school books.
My college wants iPads as well. Fuck that. I hate touch screen devices. But I put up with my Sony Ericsson
iPads are apparently supposed to replace books partially or completely in our school I'm damn glad I'm leaving after this year because apparently some random people just made the decision without actually consulting anyone who knows shit about the usability of such things. Nobody even uses them for the purpose they're supposed to, half do random shit on the internet and half do random shit in Garage Band.
That's so awful, reading on an ipad would suck. Get an ereader. Maybe have a few colour tablets, but definitely not all of them.
today I slept a lot and made my boyfriend mad at me
It probably means that you'll be trying to stop dumb people from making stupid choices. Unless they aren't dumb in which case something something something.
That's the best description for IT I've ever even heard
That's the best description for IT I've ever even heard
Which part, or both?
Just realised that i'm nearing 7k posts. I need to get another hobby.
Pepper;38795849']Just realised that i'm nearing 7k posts. I need to get another hobby.
that's nothing, I've got other hobbies and I'm still past 13000 posts
that's nothing, I've got other hobbies and I'm still past 13000 posts
Yeah, but you frequent fast threads. Racks up your post count in no time
Which part, or both?
Both :v:
Pepper;38795893']Yeah, but you frequent fast threads. Racks up your post count in no time
no I don't I get like 10 posts in there a year outside the fast anime thread
no I don't I get like 10 posts in there a year outside the fast anime thread
Fast animu is still FT.
today I slept a lot and made my boyfriend mad at me That's the best description for IT I've ever even heard
It really is, that might as well be my job description. iPads are generally bought despite IT guys strongly advising them not to.
Fast animu is still FT.
yeah but I've only got like 70 posts in there (compared to 452 in firearms VII or 802 in guitar discussion v9) and that does not at all account for my 13,000 posts
i have too many post
The spec sheet for these adapters I bought say they can handle up to 2048x1152. In reality, I've only been able to get them up to 1366x768... one below my monitor's native res. :suicide:
Which thinkpad do I buy?
Holy shit Makol, that's a lot of posts. I wonder who has the most on the site now.
i have too many post
You are Rusty v2. On the other gaming site I visit, I have 35k I think and started there in june of 2005. I only started being active here around 2008 or 9 I think. I made an account to check out some GMOD stuff :p
[t]http://i.imgur.com/lSsuq.jpg[/t] my 360 right now [editline]12th December 2012[/editline] Cool.
Cool.
"Due to an antitrust lawsuit we haven't even successfully pushed through the courts yet, we may or may not have legitimate grounds to sue you for trading items you acquired in a video game in real life." I have a feeling suing a bunch of 8-year-olds won't go over very smoothly.
